Hi everyone,

I saw someone post that they were rejected twice, and I wanted to share my experience and ask for advice, since I’ve also been rejected twice in 2025. Honestly, I’m now afraid to apply again.

Both times I applied at the Hanoi embassy(which I now realize may have been a mistake)

After first rejection, I went to embassy to get any information and the staff at the counter told me deposit could be issue. (May be I said because all my documents are legit and I couldn’t think any reason of what could wrong but my full deposit is over 2 months. So I think they just follow what I said).

So after I wait around 4 more months, I applied again same embassy since I thought they said deposit is issue. So now I fixed it and it’s better to go same embassy. But second time also rejected in 3 days after pending approval.

I applied under remote job. I work in IT.

My company is based on Singapore. My salary is fixed 50k THB(2000SGD) plus overtime bonus.

I worked in Thailand before with work permit for over 2 years. And after that stayed with Thai ed for around 2years while I’m working as freelance. So my salary goes to my Thai bank which comes from Singapore. I have also proof email payslips.

Deposit bank is also another Thai bank which has over 500k seasoning around 1 year now. I don’t have actual contract as when I’ve been working with this company for long as started with like freelance. But since now I want to apply DTV as actually I’m working as full name. My company provide me contract and recommendation letters. But I don’t have any proof since I got it in person(some agent said contract and recommendation letter from email ). This documents have my company stamps and employer signatures.

In my application, I submitted

1. company profile registered in sg

2. employer ID

3. payslips(6months)

4. 500k deposit bank ( first time over 2 months length, second time over 6months length)

5. Recommendation letter with employer signature and company stamp

6. Employer contract with employer, employee signatures and company stamp

I would really appreciate any insight into what might be wrong with my application. In particular:

1. Is my salary too low?

2. Is it a problem that my income is paid into a Thai bank account?

3. Does my employment contract need improvement or additional proof?

I’m feeling quite lost at this point and would truly appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.

Thank you so much—I really appreciate your help in advance.

We have also been rejected twice and the embassy gave no reason. After the first time we went through all of our documents very thoroughly, gave additional explanations and evidence and still no clue as to why we were rejected. We’ll be applying from our home country..

Get your salary paid to your home countries bank account . Definitely red flag and rejection as you should not have a Thai bank account in the first place

Thai bank account is a problem they can not check your visa history many people with overstay had DTV visa . DTV is tourist visa and you can not open have or mountain money in thai bank account. This also confirm that you have relation with Thailand. They need people from overseas . Receive money outside Thailand, pay tax outside Thailand travel every six mouths outside Thailand. Have to show them that you not long resident in thailand. Open Bank Account somewhere else even if you keep money for 1 mouth you can take DTV.

Yes, I was thinking the same and have already got transferred my salary to my Vietnam bank account for this month since I’m here now. But I’m a bit scared to try again, as I’m not confident this alone would fix the problem.

Anonymous participant have to change embassy they have record. They need just 500 000 bat do not need to show them where is going your salary. Also contract should show that you work remotely.

Change embassy.

Youve told them that you were living and working illegally in Thailand. Hanoi are rejecting loads of people not the place to get away with that.

There must be tens of thousands that were working illegally before they applied. Change embassy.

Having earnings going into a Thai bank probably doesnt help either.

Based on what you’ve written, the rejections are most likely down to how the application looks on paper rather than anything being “wrong” with you.

A few points that may help:

Hanoi is known to be very strict for DTV, especially for remote work cases. Multiple rejections there isn’t unusual.

Salary itself usually isn’t the issue, 50k THB is not considered low for DTV.

Getting paid into a Thai bank while on non-work status in the past can raise red flags, even if the money comes from overseas. Immigration often focuses on history and patterns.

Contracts and recommendation letters not issued by email or without clear verifiable contact details can sometimes be treated cautiously, even if stamped and signed.

Previous long stays in Thailand on ED and freelance work can also trigger extra scrutiny.

If you apply again, many people in similar situations have had better results using a different embassy and making sure everything is very clearly documented, especially proof of remote employment that can be independently verified.

It’s understandable to feel hesitant after two rejections, but it doesn’t mean you’re permanently blocked. It just means this route and location hasn’t worked so far.

Good luck

according to your working history, I guess embassy thinks that your working nature is highly related to Thailand. You just look like changing the visa type only but still earning salary. (Salary directly to you Thai Bank Account also quite a Red flag.) DTV is for someone who own or work for a business and earn income not related to Thailand. Also, you may need to try another embassy too. Good Luck.

Anonymous participant when you worked in Thailand with a work permit, was it the same company that you work with now or was it a different company?
DTV_Be*******

Anonymous participant so you do the same work, but one time you needed a work permit and now doing the same work you no longer need a work permit? This seems to happen sometimes and seems to lead to rejections. Embassy staff can see right through this. It is a type of visa shopping

I think there's a typo in your Post.. ???

You said salary of 5000 Thai baht or 2000 Singapore dollars.

I think you may have Left a zero off the Thai baht number

50,000 Thai baht is ....2000 Singapore dollars.

And...

What is your passport nation?

IF its Singapore... why not apply for the DTV visa in Singapore ???

REJECTED two times in Hanoi is puzzling 🤨

2k SGD is 48k THB? You said you worked in Thailand freelance on an Ed Visa. They may have noticed you were working illegally.

I wonder if it is anything to do with your previous ED visa and in particular that you were working freelance on it?

What’s your nationality? Do you have a previous travel history? Visa run stamps? How long have you been in Thailand in the previous 12 months? This could be a problem, as I was told after having been rejected twice in Hanoi.
