TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks advice on finding an affordable agent to open a bank account in Bangkok while holding a Non-O retirement visa and living near Terminal 21. The initiator has necessary documents but faces challenges as some banks require a one-year lease. Community responses emphasize the importance of acquiring a Certificate of Residence from immigration, which is essential for opening a bank account, and suggest visiting multiple banks to understand their specific requirements.

A Non-O should enable you to get a bank account.

It's not impossible as you seem to think it is, just not as easy as it once was.

He has all he is supposed to need outside of a residence certificate, now all he needs is to find a branch that actually don't mind foreigners as customers.

If you have your certificate of residence to open a bank account try krungthai. Its the most hassle free bank for transfer money from abroad. Just the app is a bit unstable

Instead of guessing just go into several different banks and ask for the list of documents required to open a bank account. It’s really not more difficult than that.

If you have a TM30 you should be able to get a residence certificate. If you have a residence certificate and your thai phone number is registered against your passport you should be able to open a bank account

on a Non-immigrant visa with the appropriate documents it's not so difficult although you may still have to try a few bank branches

yes, but they will mail the residence certificate to you. So you'll need to be staying there long enough to receive it in the mail or have an arrangement with the hotel to collect your mail if you check out first.

aren’t they making people go back and pick them up now instead of mailing them?

Hmm. Maybe. I recall reading something about that but can't remember the specifics. I'm just used to telling people this since it's been this way for years.

I get it. They mailed mine in October but right after I processed mine in Bangkok several reported/complained they had to make two trips because they were no longer mailing them.

You need a Certificate of Residence from immigration. Take your passport, visa, TM-30 and go to immigration and request a Certificate of Residence.

You will need to make copies of your passport bio data page, your visa entry stamp, your approved visa page signed off by IO when you entered and copy of your Tm-30. Id recommend multiple copies as you will need them later.

First of all, try going with the correct paperwork. You need a residence certificate. TM30 means absolutely nothing to a bank. You need to use that TM30 to get the residence certificate specifically for a bank account.

Second of all, I doubt you'll find any agents in Bangkok that do standalone bank accounts. The only agents I know of that help with bank accounts do it as part of a full visa/extension package costing upwards of 30,000-50,000 baht.

There are some agents in Pattaya that might do standalone bank accounts, but it would be a lot easier and faster if you just went to immigration and got your own residence certificate and then did it yourself.

Also, you only went to ONE bank branch? You might need to go to 10 or more before you find one willing to work with foreigners. Each bank branch managers sets their own requirements for THAT branch. So the next Kasikorn bank you go to might have completely different requirements.
