Anyone know the visa requirements for trading (forex/crypto) as a self run business? Want to cover my ass with visa/work permit/tax when withdrawing funds, not a small amount want to make sure i'm not caught out. Doesn't seem like the investment visa covers this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the visa and work permit requirements for trading forex and cryptocurrency in Thailand as a self-employed individual. Participants share varying opinions on whether a work permit (WP) is needed for running an online trading business, with some stating that trading one's own portfolio does not require a WP. However, if someone is trading on behalf of others, they would likely need a WP. There are also concerns about tax implications and the legality of these activities depending on the nature of the business structure.
If I stay at Thailand, but my account in Indian exchange and transition done through my Indian bank account. Then what will be position. I will withdraw money from international visa card in Thailand.
Mean I run my online stock market business out of Thailand , only online orders from Thailand. Is it in list of working in Thailand? Tnx in advance.
I am going always according to thread only. Other person moving away from thread.
My question is same as thread, only one point change, transaction from Thai broker n Thai bank account v/s broker out of Thailand n bank account too out of Thailand.
You instructed me but after understanding my quarry you not replied/ suggest answer.
So I stand on my line without getting answer.
I HOPE ADMIN TOD DENIALS WILL GIVE SUITABLE ANSWER.
Than you should reply and comment on the question of the thread, if you have questions yourself start a thread by yourself and do not use other threads to make things confusing.
BUT THIS THREAD STARTED FROM SOME ONE ABOUT ONLINE TRADING WHEN U LIVING IN THAILAND. Difference is they doing from Thailand broker or registered with Thai company.
Well you started that you run a business. Now it is private stock buying and selling. Than you ask about non existing visa's like work visa, retirement visa, and second question sufficient proof of income. I gave you the correct names of Visa to work in Thailand if you should run a business. And I gave you the link to the different possibilities for an Extension of Stay with the financial requirements. You than called me a racist. I answered the question, not comparing your questions with other comments.
I m on retirement visa, in ur language non O-A visa in Thailand.
I have money in my India @ my account. By call to India I bought some shares through my Indian Broker in Indian stock exchange.
After few days I again called him to sell that. I got profit n transferred to my bank account in India. All happened out of Thailand except call made from Thailand. Is it called I done work/job/business in Thailand? Because at non O-A visa, I can't do work/ job in Thailand.
Thread started on same point. Difference is by self computer n Call from phone.
Explain the again not agree. You asked about sufficient proof of income. This is only needed for an Extension Of stay, there are 36 reasons to apply for this and most of them have different income levels needed. I do not know, because you did not explain what you wish to apply for so I can not give you the exact answer. If you do not agree with the rules of Immigration, okay than say so.
Work Visa, Business Visa, Retirement Visa, all those does not exist in Thailand. To work in Thailand you need or the Non Immigrant B visa or a Non Immigrant O visa which allows you to work with a Work Permit. For an Extension of Stay a requirement is sufficient proof of income, this requirement is depending on the basis you apply. This proof of income can be made by Work Permit and tax payments or the income statement from your Embassy.
I've personally never had a problem trading or converting crypto into baht via p2p exchanges here. Someone above mentioned BX Thailand. They're ok, but deposit and withdrawal times can be pretty random. They've also banned all US customers recently due to FATCA I believe. If you have access to to a foreign crypto exchange and a local one in Thailand, you might actually find some pretty good arbitrage opportunities considering that BTC here often trades at 3%-15% higher than the global average.
As for trading legality in terms of work/tax, I couldn't say. Answers will become clearer when people start getting too rich in ways the govt hadn't thought of itself. Good luck & #HODL
well, I'm reading and doing research, then i put on a trade.....that trade can run for weeks without me interfering.....I do not think you need a WP to read financial news.
For many working under the radar without papers using a visa with the text Working Prohibited is the same as driving a motorbike without helmet. As long as the Police not stop you, or you get into an accident it is no problem or an issue, but it is still against the law.
If you are using your knowledge or physical energie (typing a keyboard) with or without a benefit it is called work in Thailand. Yes, I understand, some people call themselves nomads and claim the law is not for them, some how based on the fact that they do not need a house to work. To get Work Permit you need or to get employed or set up a company with 51 % Thai ownership and 49 % yours, Than you can apply for work permit and if you meet the requirements an Extension Of Stay at Immigration Office based on working in Thailand.
It would be considered a job if you are taking other people's money and work that money. I asked both Robert and got the same answer from both.......they did stressed running your "own" portfolio.
Problem is you asked the wrong office, The Ministry of Labor is in charge of Work Permits, Immigration is in charge of Visa. You can ask Ministry of Labor for Extension of you Tourist Visa and they will probably say: No Problem, it is okay.
They told me no WP needed to run your own portfolio......It is not like you are typing away all day...Asked several times and at several places, immi, labour office.....all gave me the same answer.
