Hi there all

I know that this has probably been asked many times, but here goes..

With regards to working online (digital nomad style) with only overseas clients (nothing to do with Thailand), would this be considered illegal work if on a holiday visa? And does the situation improve if on a spousal visa?

I have heard there is a digital nomad visa coming out soon, but want to see if present day it is illegal or not

Many thanks :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The legality of working online (digital nomad style) with overseas clients while on a holiday visa in Thailand is complex. While it is generally seen as illegal, law enforcement often overlooks this type of work. The situation may improve with a spousal visa, as it may allow for the acquisition of a work permit, even if not employed by a company. Be cautious, as there are misleading claims about upcoming digital nomad visas, with many suggesting that current options do not cater to this work type.

Prostitution is illegal in thailand as well. Let that sink in for a minute.. Thai immigration chif has already stated people working online is not a concern to them. Co-working spaces have been raided before and everyone released. It eally is not an issue

I see... My wife is currently getting a work permit, so when I get my spousal visa, is it possible to acquire a work permit from that? Even though I am not being employed by a company here?

Thanks again all

More on that supposed digital nomad visa.. It is being falsely touted by Visa Agencies as a lure to get you to use their services for other visas - while you wait for the pie in the sky fantasy Visa. Lure = fake fish or fake insect to catch bigger fish

This type of work is illegal, however it is mostly overlooked by law enforcement.

And No there is no digital nomads visa coming out. The visa touted as being for digital nomads is actually for big money investors having little to do with your line of work.

Illegal reson being your useing Thai internet and not paying taxes.

On a extension of stay based on marriage you can get a work permit. But doing what your thinking of doing whould you be paying taxes in Thailand.

I'm thinking about working on SET Stock exchange Thailand.

With that you pay tax . Before you get any payment.
