Question: Does anyone have experience of a third Visa Exempt this year? I came visa exempt 5 March, left 26 April on the 60 day Visa Exampt. Now I came again 19 Oct. My intention had been to do the extension after 30 days and stay for the 60 days. But I've been sent on assignment to the Middle East between 10 and 22 November. I can't refuse it. The 2 countries I will be in I cannot do the e-tourist visa there. I've done 3 visa exempts before (not back to back) for genuine travel reasons. I used to live in Thailand for 8 years (under a proper extension) so it's convenient for me to come here to visit people when I have been on assignment in Asia. But with all I am reading right now I wonder if the third entry might be refused (all entries are by air into Phuket). I have UK passport. Thanks for input.
Answer summary
The individual seeks advice about the potential risks of being denied entry into Thailand after multiple Visa Exempt entries within a year. They have had a history of Visa Exempt entries and are now unsure about their upcoming return. Responses from the community suggest that while multiple entries are not strictly limited, they may attract scrutiny from immigration officers, especially under current rules. It is advised to be prepared for potential questions upon entry and to have documentation ready, including proof of accommodation and a ticket out of Thailand.

Every entry is at the discretion of the immigration officer. There's no 2 entry limit for entries by air, that's only for land and sea so all you can do is try it and see. Make sure you have proof of your accommodation booking, a ticket out and 20k baht or equivalent in cash as these are the main reasons for denying entry. I'd also have proof of being sent on assignment, my feeling is you'll be OK

All countries are served by a consulate even if there isn’t one in the physical country. Have you tried the evisa website?

OP
Johnny Jones yes I have and clearly I cannot apply while in Thailand. In both Qatar and Oman you have to be resident there in order to apply for the Thai evisa from there.

I would not 🚫❌ recommend you trying to enter as you have asked.

Your multiple Visa Exempt entries into Thailand in 2026 are the reason why Thai Immigration changed its rules for entry. ( Thai immigration looks back 12 months of your entry activity).

You are on the RADAR...be prepared for questions from Thai Immigration officers on arrival. And possibly DENIED ENTRY.

Getting a SETV Single Entry tourist visa likewise does not guarantee you will be able to enter Thailand. It's solely up to the Thai Immigration officer who makes the decision.

And Phuket Thai Immigration officers apparently are strictly monitoring those who have multiple Visa Exempt entries within a 12 month period.

If you are a digital nomad... why don't you simply get the DTV visa for Workcation.... it's a 5 year visa and would give you the ability to travel to, serve your clients from Thailand.

Or if you are age 50+, look at getting the Non O Visa as RETIREE. No need to retire... But age 50+ qualifies for it.

It's not about the number of entries, but the pattern of stays.

OP
That was my original understanding, and I thought that my 58 days in April plus 55 days now would be fine. But right now there is a lot of rhetoric about 2 entries only per year and that does appear on some embassy websites. I had not intended to leave for 10 days in the middle of this second stay, unfortunately it is not something I can refuse. I did ask at immigration at the airport and they said it is discretionary to the officer on the day.
