Hi all,

I'm planning on applying for a DTV online at the Romanian embassy in 2 months. I've had 500k THB in my account for 1 month, but the Ro currency is devaluing at the moment. While I'm sure I'll be over the. 500k threshold in 2 months when I will apply, will there be an issue if I was only at around 480-490k for the first of the 3 months? This is assuming all the other documents are correct
Summary so far
The conversation revolves around the requirements for applying for a DTV visa at the Romanian embassy, particularly focusing on the necessity of maintaining a bank balance of at least 500,000 THB for three months prior to application. The original poster is concerned about having dipped slightly below the required amount during one of those months and seeks clarification on the strictness of this financial requirement. Various commenters provide insights, suggesting that while the requirement is indeed to hold 500,000 THB or equivalent, the enforcement of this requirement may vary and the exchange rate applied may depend on the date the application is reviewed.

The exchange rate used is the one on the day they look at your application, and bank documents. They don't check past exchange rates and compare with that month's balance. They use the current day's exchange rate for all the past months.

Thanks. I'm mostly asking for the strictness of the rule. If accorsing to the exchange rate from the day of the application I was at 490k for the first of the 3 months am I getting rejected for that?

Anonymous participant it says a balance of bt500,000 for the last three months. That means every month for the last three months. Also, the exchange rate used is the rate on the day they actually look at your application, not on the day you apply. It can take days, and weeks, before they get to it, and the exchange rate fluctuates daily. That is the reality of your situation. Not meeting the financial requirements is the biggest reason for rejection.

I agree, it's just I had a plan with finding a tenant for my place here and they would have to move in during a specific time frame, which means I should be gone by then.

Here is what ChatGPT tells me and from a logical perspective I agree, I guess my question is whether anyone has any experience regarding being slightly below the threshold for 1 month. I would understand rejection if you have a big deposit 30 days before applying. Have you heard of anyone being rejected for being only slightly below the threshold for the first month?

Anonymous participant when living in Thailand the best way to adapt is to slow down. Thailand isn't going anywhere. You're looking at staying here for five years. Taking a few extra months to get it right is no big deal.

Anonymous participant others have included it in the comments they responded with about the three months. About the exchange rate day it is not officially written anywhere the public has access to. I have dealt with foreign currency for visas, over a period of 12 months, and that is how they figure the exchange rate for every month. They use that day's exchange rate. I have used my fcd (foreign currency deposit) account, that holds American dollars in my Thai bank account. I have used that account with immigration, and for a number of years they used that day's exchange rate for every month. This is how all immigration, and embassies, do it. They make things as easy as possible

Or even if it is a rule at all because officially it doesn't say it has to be there for 3 months, it just says they will want the sum in there + bank statements which I assume are required to check there is no large deposit

Try and contact the embassy and briefly explain that it dipped below, and try to get a feel for how strict they are on this requirement.

Requirement is at least 500.000 thb (or equivalent currency) in a personal bank account for at least 3 months prior application>

WHY do you think this requirement is made, if you think it will be no issue if you can not meet this requirement.

For all applications, use AI to gain knowlegde:

A requirement is a necessary condition, rule, or demand that must be met, satisfied, or fulfilled.

Do you have any links to where it says that 500k thb for free months is a requirement? Official site says this: Financial evidence: an amount of no less than 500,000 THB, (e.g., bank statements for the last three months, sponsor letter). The requirement is providing the bank statement for the past 3 months possibly to check there has not been a sudden transfer, but it doesn't mention that the sum must be there for the whole period

Amount for no less than 500.000 Thb.

If you think 490.000 is NO LESS than you are correct.

Anonymous participant the whole three months, but read my other comment to better understand how it works.

My point is "no less than 500.000 Thb" is ambiguous because it doesn't mention if it's no less than that at the time of applying or for the whole 3 months. That is the whole reason for my question.

haha that makes sense now. Thanks again for all your help here and the good suggestions. I could only find one relevant answer regarding a person applying from Romania who said they've sent a screenshot of their transactions from the past month with their balance always being over 500k. That sounds encouraging for my situation, but it was from August 2025, so I don't know if anything has changed since then.

I appreciate the response, but AI should have a source for this. Chatgpt will tell me not to worry about being under the threshold for a month out of 3. It also says currency doesn't matter as long as it's over 500k thb. So it is a bit conflicting as long as I don't have an official source AI would just guess responses

Or hold residence status in Romania?

I've asked that question several times AND it appears to be an important question. ???

Anonymous participant I read it as having a bank account balance of 500,000 Thai baht or more for 3 months... not just the ending 3rd month.
