I know it has been covered many times re: 12 months of 65,000 bank deposit for the FIRST non-o one year extension not being able to be used. BUT after several phone calls to the Phuket IO both in Thai and English, they say we can.

I guess only a trip there will give the real answer. We also have the 800,000 ready just in case. WE ALL KNOW WHY!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether a 12-month bank deposit of 65,000 baht can be used for the first Non-O one-year extension in Thailand. While there is a common understanding that this method isn't typically accepted for the first extension, phone consultations with the Phuket Immigration Office suggested it may be possible. Participants debated the importance of having alternative financial proof, like the 800,000 baht option, which might be preferred instead. Various comments also touched on the conditions of bank accounts linked to visas and the challenges faced by expats in this regard.

yes account is frozen and can only close or wait for retirement visa. I can still make deposits and get a statement from BB bank and hopping that will work with IO.

Bangkok Bank will not issue a "bank letter" if the funds are locked.

You will not be able to use those funds as "proof" as you do not have access to use the funds in the account.

Retirement extension with income method is possible, usually not on first extension.

So the question is #1 how do you have a bank account with the money in it and a year of transfer?

What visa were you on when you arranged this account?

If you have 800k and the income you can try it and see.

At least you have the fall back 800k.

They will prefer the 800k.

Monthly transfer on a first extension in practice generally does not work.

As always up to the officer you are in front of.

okay that may also factor into it as you have no previous "visa" history to explain the money.

Go in hopeful but even one error in the statements will kill it.

you should be able to get your first one-year extension based on the 12-months bank statement. If you haven't missed out any single month and if all transfers are coded as having come from abroad, I do not see why you would not succeed

yea they don’t he’ll find out he says he has the 800k also so if he’s been transferring in the 65k he’ll be able to use that on his second extension but he needs to keep the 800k-400k for this first year
