Update on my quest for a non immigrant o 12 month extension based on over 50 years old. Friends, in case it may help.. I got a new passport during the 90 non imm o time period so step 1 was to transfer the visa from old to new passport. That is a free process at jomtien immigration and it had taken 1 day. My paperwork is in order for the 12 month extension so I will fetch my passport tomorrow- total of 3 visits to accomplish the task. Anyhow of importance... If you file tm30 via app as I do then you need to also bring a paper print out or get one done at immigration. They seem to agree if I printed a phone screenshot. But I opted to get the paper version done at the tm30 desk. Anyhow, proof of tm30 did not appear on the list of requirements for the 12 month extension, it was requested at the last moment as I handed in my previously twice checked documents. So please take note. Otherwise everything has gone smoothly, jomtien immigration has been chock full the past few days. I'll get my passport tomorrow and immediately apply for a multi entry permit if the lines are not scary long.

TLDR : Answer Summary

They highlight the importance of transferring the visa to a new passport, which is a free process at Jomtien immigration and can be completed within a day. They advise on the necessity of providing proof of TM30 registration – a requirement that was unexpectedly requested at the end of the process. Overall, they report a smooth experience despite busy immigration offices, and plan to apply for a multi-entry permit afterwards.

Thanx for the update. Jomtien is one of those few immigration offices that have your pick your passport up the next day for retirement extensions. All the rest just ink it in on the spot and give your passport back to you :)

How was the visa transferred to the new passport? I didn't think that was possible

I left old and new passports at immigration for one day. They stamped the new passport with the updated visa. Before I decided to get a new passport I did check with the local immigration office to learn of the process. They assured me it can be done at no cost. In my case they did request documents from the passport issuing agency. In fact I only had a receipt which was accepted.
