Can I extend my Non-B visa to a Non-O retirement visa if I'm over 50 and have 800k in a Thai bank?

I tried searching the information I needed in this group but not getting the answer. Hence I would like to post my question here: I currently have a Non-b visa. Is it possible to extend my visa based on being over 50 years old and having the required 800k seasoned in a Thai bank for 2 months? Do I still also need to get the 400k health insurance? I went to an agent and he said its easy to convert if I use his services and paid his exorbitant fee required.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about extending their Non-B visa due to being over 50 years old and maintaining 800,000 THB in a Thai bank for two months. Various comments confirmed that such an extension is possible without needing to convert the visa type, although health insurance is not required for Non-O visas based on retirement. The user might need to cancel their current work permit if they wish to change their visa reason. Additionally, there were suggestions to consult local immigration offices for up-to-date information and advice.

Are you actually on the initial Non B visa, as in the sticker put in your passport from an embassy overseas or are you on an extension of stay based off that initial visa with a stamp saying “admitted to stay until xxxx” date?

I am now on the extension of stay based off that initial Non-b visa.

well then you can change the reason for your extension based on working to now being retired. You need to cancel your work permit at your local Labour office and then apply for a new extension at immigration.

Thanks for the advice. If my work permit is issued via BOI, can I change the reason at the immigration centre in Chamchuri Square? Rather do it there than the province I am in.

you need to cancel visa and work permit at One stop service, then apply for extension at your local immigration.

my current immigration is outside of Bangkok. If I want to do my extension in Bangkok, can I change my TM31 to Bangkok first and then apply in OSOS immigration office?

@Wong *******
at One Stop Service you can only cancel your current visa and get 14 days to apply at your local immigration office.

Yes, you can. An extension of stay is not a visa, as some seems to think.

1 year extension based on being over 50, requires you to start with some kind of non-immigrant visa.

Doesn't matter what category it is.

You don't have to convert anything.

Just another reason of necessity for your extension

Insurance is only required for a Non-OA, which can only be obtained in your home country. A Non-O based on retirement does not require health insurance.

Can. It is coverting non B visa to non O retirement visa. PM me for further info.

Better to go to your local Immigration and ask them. Rules changing all of the time.
