Do I have to go to Vientiane to apply for the DTV visa, and is it really boring?
I’m in Bangkok right now. I’m asking because I’m a bit confused — to get the DTV visa in Laos, I have to go to Vientiane first, right?
I heard Luang Prabang is more fun, so part of me wants to fly there directly from Bangkok.
By the way, is Vientiane really such a boring city? 🤣

Half the fuel stations in Laos are shut down and the fuel situation is getting worse. I wouldn't travel very far from Vientiane. You might get stranded. Good luck.

let them know in your application of your plans of going to luang prabang because i went there without telling them and they called me for an interview the next morning where i couldnt catch a train or flight back, luckily i could reschedule

Vang Vieng is beautiful in terms of Vientiane. Yes it’s kind of boring city.

Watch out in Vientiane at night for male scooter drivers. Many got robbed recently there.

You need to go to Vientiane first as you pay the application fee In cash. You can then travel elsewhere but if asked for an interview need to return to Vientiane. It is a small city, not too much to do but ok for a few days, so going to Luang Prabang as well is a good idea.

Anonymous participant Cash only in THB. There is no card payment available. Advantage though you just pay 10k THB not a mark up which majority of embassies apply.
