Returning the favour as a grateful member of this community- DTV Approved in HCMC and officially back in Thailand with a 6 month passport stamp.

I am Canadian and applied for the 'workcation' DTV as a Preply teacher.

I submitted my application to the HCMC embassy on June 30th, checked the website for a status update on July 2 and it showed 'pending approval'. I received the approval email with my DTV on July 7th so it took 1 week total (including the weekend) to be processed and approved.

Here's what I submitted:

Proof of location:

~~My profile stats (generated within the platform) including hours & lessons taught to date, attendance rate, etc.~~

Financial Docs:

* My exported payment history from Preply 

* 6 months of Bank Statements with all deposits from my work highlighted (I also highlighted the conversion amount from USD to CAD to make is VERY easy for them to match everything up). I also made a note about a percentage that Preply deducts when transferring to non-US accounts- again to make everything as clear as possible

* The 2 most recent statements showed a balance of over 500k baht

I am in the same boat, teaching with Preply online and living in Thailand.

I am planning to try to get the DTV in Hanoi soon. Thanks to your post I will include more info from Preply, like the earnings spreadsheet.

, my pleasure- glad it's helpful! Yeah, I definitely recommend making the entire 'payment transfer' journey really easy for them to follow, from the export from Preply to Paypal (or whatever platform you use), and Paypal to my bank. I actually got zero questions throughout the whole process from application to going through immigration. I did file my taxes in Canada in case they wanted to see T4s but was never asked for it. No questions about previous work history but I have over a year of teaching history/ data from Preply

If I get an interview request, can I choose between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi?

I never got an interview request so I can't speak from experience but logically, you would have to go to the embassy that you applied through for the interview. I just kept it simple by applying to the HCMC embassy and staying in HCMC until the process was complete/I got my Visa.

oh interesting! So the previous 4 months were below 500k thb? I thought we needed above 500k for all 6 months, is that only relative due to other supporting documents like your salary?

Yup, that's exactly what I've seen too. You definitely have to do the research on this- Based on comments in this group, I was confident that my financial documents would be sufficient for HCMC and fortunately they were.

Anonymous participant 506Yeah the previous 4 mths below 500k. Very few embassies need 6 months seasoning of the 500K. More are saying 3 months seasoning of the 500k but many are ok with a final balance of 500k and 6 months of statements.
