What are the requirements and experiences with the 5-year Thai Education Visa (DTV) for cooking classes?
Buzzer beater application applied a few hours before cut off on the 28th. Only got a few cooking classes and got the 5 year visa. Thanks everyone for your help! Dont let anyone talk you into a 9 month course… might depend on embassy but 3-4 classes should be enough.

You got lucky. Great for you. Most embassies refuse it, it is a fact. Also, it doesn't mean you'll necessarily be fine for the next five years. ED holders who don't attend classes are learning that the hard way.

Where do you base your fantasy upon that the purpose of the visa was not to make you attend an event?Why should they check everything then.
Just like your fantasy it is not mandatory to visit courses.
When you not visit you do not comply with the visa requirements.
You might for some time get away with that, but don't count on 5 years.

500k is absolutely nothing though, considering it’s a 5 year visa. What’s wrong with taking some classes while you are living in a new country and trying to adapt to their culture?I’m actually looking forward to my classes.

If you don't plan to use the visa for a long time, you indeed don't need a longer course, but maybe it was a lot cheaper to get a shorter visa.

not to worry as it is very likely that Thailand soon either eliminates the whole soft power ED part of the 5-year DTV Visa, or only grants the Visa for the length of time that the course is scheduled for. For example if you apply for a 3-month cooking or Muay Thai class, you get a 3-month Visa.The true value of the DTV visa to Thailand is the workcation classification, or True working Digital Nomads who can provide legitimate proof of their monthly income requirements and Bank balances that Thailand requires, to ensure that broke gypsies aren't manipulating or misusing the visa for its intended purposes.

Keep on dreaming, you applied for a visa for a specific purpose, when you enter for another purpose it is just not valid, and you can get denied entry in case IO checks.You are the one that does not understand what the DTV visa is.

actually what bother us that you are a scammer and booked a soft power activity just to get the visa without intending to attend to it. That is a clear visa abuse. If you don't understand that when you apply for a visa for a specific purpose you cannot use the visa for a completely different purpose, it is no use to discuss this, obviously you are just missing the IQ needed to understand such simple things.There is nothing to take up with the government, the rules are clear, but you not understand them.
