Has anyone worked with a legitimate lawyer for a DTV visa? Only looking for actual experience and recommendations, not people advertising themselves to me. I'm going to have a combination of some remote income, student loans for my masters program (fully online) and maybe 8-10k in my bank account. I just dont see me getting the minimum balance in for 3 months with my timeline. My kids dad is moving there for work and we want to make sure the kids start at the beginning of the school year. I could marry him for a non O but honestly I really dont want to 😭

You just don’t sound ready at the very least you will need more money than what you say, don’t need a DTV lawyer to tell you that, you need 3-6 months of monthly bank statements (savings account ) showing transactions ideally 6 months with the latest balance showing min B500,000 or equivalent currency Don’t waste the application fee of B10,000 (it’s non refundable ) just enter on a 60 day visa exempt and apply (not from within Thailand)when you have funds and meet the other requirements GL

Why lawyer? Friend paid 1.5mil to lawyer when applying Thai citizenship and most of us do it self totally free👍 Read visa requirements, apply dtv and next you have 5 year tourist visa in passport.

The DTV visa is not a standard visa. It's just this really long tourist visa. You can't open a bank account, and you may not be let back into Thailand under increased scrutiny.

I urge you to watch this video beginning at 5:43

If you're in a hurry and it's your first visit you can just enter Thailand visa exempt, then you'll have 60 days to sort it out, and 30 more if you extend. After that you can exit Thailand and apply for a DTV in a neighboring country (check first - they each have their own rules and requirements). For the funds you'll have to figure it out - take a loan or otherwise find a way to show the cash in a bank account.

To meet DTV requirements, borrow from family, banks, or credit cards. That's the only way. I don't know if there are any lawyers who are going to loan you the money.

I didnt expect a lawyer to loan me the money. I was just mistaken, I had seen some information that led me to believe there were some options that had different bank account requirements but I was clearly misinformed

Why would you choose have children (plural) with a man you have no interest in marrying?

I think you are asking Renee this question not me. Thanks for answering Renee - I see now, I wouldn’t want to marry that person either, knowing he was LGBT etc. it just sounded so damn funny the way I read it 👍

If you have remote work then the DTV based on workation is the only option for you to do that legally. The 500k baht (or equivalent) in the bank is an absolute requirement though whether you have a lawyer helping or not

from some cursory research it looked like there were some firms that could help prepare your application and potentially refer you to specific ways of filing (like at a specific embassy) to help increase your chances. However I was under the impression that showing sufficient income was an option to bypass the minimum bank account balance, but I have learned i was incorrect.
