Hello I'm thinking of staying in thailand while I complete my online schooling. First I was wondering is it still easy to get a 60 day extension to the 30 day entry? I've thought of doing 90 days thailand and then 90 days vietnam and going back and forth. But I can't tell how easy it would be to train martial arts and get a year visa. Can you go on a 30 day visa waver extend it 60 days and set up a gym and apartment while you are there or does this all need to be done before coming?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about their options for staying in Thailand while completing online studies, especially regarding the extension of a 30-day visa exemption, visa types suitable for martial arts training, and the logistics of setting up a gym and apartment. Community comments suggest the DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) as a potential option, conditional upon qualifying study areas, and clarify that a 60-day extension cannot be obtained from a 30-day visa exemption, but a 30-day extension is available from a 60-day visa.

No such thing as a 60 day extension for a 30 day visa exempt. But... you can get a 30 day extension for a 60 day visa exempt or a 60 day tourist visa.

Have you looked at the DTV visa ?

DTV is Destination Thailand Visa and you may qualify depending if you are studying in one of the approved study areas that qualify for a DTV.

Other than that if you don't qualify then perhaps a 6 months multiple entry tourist visa would suit you which can be stretched out to 9 months depending on your exits and entries..

If you are planning on being in Thailand on a long term basis then either of those are safer options than trying to rely on Tourist exemption entries..

Both the DTV and 6 month multiple entry tourist visa need to be arranged outside of Thailand before you travel.
