TLDR : Answer Summary
A Japanese expat shared their successful experience in applying for a Thai DTV visa in Hanoi for a one-month Muay Thai training course. The approval process included providing a balance certificate and supporting documents, leading to approval just four business days after submitting additional information. Community members congratulated the applicant, shared tips about document preparation, and cautioned about potential immigration questions upon arrival in Thailand. There were discussions around application strategies, such as the importance of demonstrating financial stability and the preferred duration of training courses.

It's often taken for granted here that your SP course needs to be at least 6 months long, yet here we have a successful case with a one-month course. And there've been a lot of rejections in Hanoi for SP recently. What seems to have tipped the scale in Op's favor is the 1 mil bht bank balance. In this case, the embassy didn't care if the course was just one month.

Yes, after you register, they will write you a letter of introduction to submit to the embassy.

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

read the posts on this forum...

Look at the various Soft Power activity for the DTV visa. You MUST have a Bank account balance of at least 500,000 Thai baht in any bank account in your name.

Congratulations my friend. You confirm what i been telling everyone. If you dont have the funds DONT RUSH INTO SENDING DOCUMENTS YOU DONT HAVE. Get a sponsor they could care less who has the money as long as its SEASONAL FOR 6 months and is coming from outside of thailand. Wish you the best 🙏

Does anyone have any inside information regarding Hanoi? It seems there were quite a few rejections for both remote worker and soft power suddenly. This is a successful case. It would be good to know on what basis some are being approved and others rejected.

Anonymous participant 323 i applied there last week. read over 100 posts and took every little detail from each post i read and made my own. I think what most people are missing is the fact this a long term tourist visa and they want to make sure you can support yourself. If you just deposit the money 15 days before to complete the 500k requirement they might feel your are not financial stable and thus reject your visa. IF PEOPLE DONT HAVE THE MONEY GET A SPONSOR WHOSE INCOME COMES FROM OUTSIDE OF THAILAND IS THAT SIMPLE. They could care less who has the money as long as its coming outside of thailand and its SEASONAL FOR 6 MONTHS. Another area that people miss is the verbatim statement where they say THEY WONT SEEK LOCAL EMPLOYMENT . This is a condition stated on the visa and a lot of people just leave that off when they put their applications together. THAT MUST BE THERE ☝️

Congratulations!

- Do print out your supporting documents especially your e-visa when coming into Thailand.

- Check your passport stamp when passing the immigration as there has been cases that the officer mistakenly uses the
*****
day visit visa instead of 180 days DTV stamp.

- Will be good to mentally prepare the small chance that they ask some questions about your intention in Thailand and how you will support yourself.

It doesn't happen often but it's good to be prepared if it comes to that. Overall your answers should match your intention of being here (i.e. your interest in Thai culture and Muay Thai classes)

i think it depends on how you set up your application. I SPENT A LONG TIME LOOKING FOR EVERY POSSIBLE DOCUMENT they would ask for. I was approved in 3 business days and my picture was blurry . I think if i had a better picture and not holidays i would have been approved the same week. Hanoi is the best place to get this visa AS LONG AS YOU HAVE WHAT THEY ARE REQUESTING NOW 🙏

Yes, a solid application is key. Maybe as Vietnam seems to be the most popular spot to apply, understandably we are seeing the most rejections from there.

Yeah, small details count such as not seeking local employment etc. Approvals are given for recent deposits of the 500k, and some of the rejections have had the 500k seasoned for 3+ months. It would be helpful if the embassy gave an exact reason for rejection so applicants can avoid the same mistake next time.

i doubt they will change the format for the rejections some embassies just deny you and you never know why. I travel frequently and can tell you i have been denied in countries and never find out why… its a visa thing i think. I dont see this visa surviving in its current form. Its just too nice for you to stay in thailand for 5 years and just pay 340 usd. Before this we look into other options and most of them were like 50-75 times the 375 price and a lot more uncertainty. I see the price increasing in the near future and more restrictions to come into play. Lets hope im wrong 🙏

Yeah, more restrictions will come into play for sure especially with Softpower. The visa is cheap but the country gets significant income as DTVERS are spending on rent, food, travel, etc.
