TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the needs for obtaining an ED visa and a working visa in Thailand. Key points include the need to contact an educational institution for the ED visa and an employer for the working visa, as well as the approximate costs involved. The ED visa allows for a stay of up to one year depending on the school's program and is necessary to be enrolled in classes. There are variations in costs depending on the institution, but generally, the visa fee is around 2,000 THB. Suggestions also include starting with a tourist visa to explore options in Thailand.

Get a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate in your country BEFORE you wing your way here. That will give you a 60 day stamp and you can extend that by 30 more days at the immigration office. That will give you enough time to check out some schools to see if the ED visa is for you or to look for a job.

Good Luck (y)

you need to contact a school in the city you're going to be living in here to find out what the tuition is and for a working visa you need to have a job

***waiting for you***. Job-hunting in Thailand can be a stressful process.

A friend of mine just got her 2nd ED Visa denied because of the inability to pass an informal speaking and understanding Thai Language test at the Immigration office. So I suggest if you are going the ED Visa route for Thai language to stay in Thailand - take it seriously

Even easier is to "study" a language you are already fluent in. Certainly reduces study time.

Sandee school, RCA, bien et pas chère

Best to pick something other than Thai; my friend has an Ed visa for studying French.

Yes - but contact me, I will explain

- Not a new thing by far.

They are cracking down because many schools + students are using Thai language learning as a sham to stay in Thailand. The gig is up, that's for sure.

To get the ED Visa you contact an organisation where you like to study, learn and sit in class rooms. This school or organisation will help you with the papers to get this Visa. For work, you find an Employer who like to give you a job and help with the documents to apply for the Work Permit and the Non Immigrant B visa.

one more option, I think. Start your own business =)

Take a look at the website of the Thai Embassy of Consulate where you like to apply and look for the requirements of the ED Visa. The visa cost around 2.000 Thb, no idea about the cost of your education.
