What are the pros and cons of a Guardian visa compared to a DTV visa in Thailand?

Does anyone know the advantages or disadvantages of getting a Guardian visa over a DTV? I know I can get a bank account with Guardian visa. Is it a pain having to renew it every year?? Seems like it might be easier than DTV to apply for at the moment?

Funny to see that people are only interested in how long a visa is valid, the ease of Extension of Stay and the financials.

What you can do or not can do, is totally irrelevant for most.

There were few people renewing these last week when I was at Chiang Mai Immigration. Seemed to take two hours in the morning, Told to go away for a few hours after document check, back and two hours in the afternoon and issued. I am assuming here because they were there with schoolkids.

You pretty much covered the main points - and sort of answered your own question. It comes down to personal preference ... and how much weight would having a Thai bank account have for you. Me personally, I would never trade the freedom of a multiple entry DTV with little annoying touch-points with immigration for another visa that I would need to bureaucratically extend every year.
