I know british embassy used to have a list of recomended lawyers on there website about 15 years ago. Not had any need to look since then have you checked that.

Do you have Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (CUKC) status with automatic Entitlement to Right of Abode in the UK??
What issue do you have in obtaining a British Passport outside the UK at a British Embassy??
Perhaps insufficient evidence of British Citizenship, unable to document name changes (Unenrolled Deed Poll, etc.), perhaps have British Nationality with a BN(O) Passport, etc. etc.

What sort of issue would require a lawyer? To renew a UK passport inside Thailand is straightforward via the VFS Global offices in either Bangkok or Chiang Mai. If you are distant from either of them their are number of others that will service your application so you don't even need to attend in person
