I have been doing the 800000 in the bank since I got here but am send over well over well over 800000 a year to live but not always 650000 in a month obviously watching the exchange rates and send more over when hi and topping up when need. My bank statement will show this. Can this be used as the 650000 per month as I herd they add all amounts together and divide by 12. But also herd they take monthly amount and go on the lowest amount sent. Can anyone give my best options to get my monthy income cover my visa requirements rather than the 8000000

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on how to fulfill the financial requirements for a visa extension in Thailand without adhering to the 800,000 baht in the bank rule. They are currently transferring significant amounts of money but not consistently 65,000 baht per month. Comments clarify that immigration typically requires a minimum of 65,000 baht to be transferred monthly for 12 consecutive months, without averaging. Some suggest using a foreign currency deposit account for flexibility, while others emphasize the need to maintain consistent and documented transfers to avoid visa complications.

Do it once a month and leave the 800 thou work for you in investments. Not rocket science.

that was the question. I not wasted money on agents but want to release the 800 to invest but unfortunately I don't meet the criteria until next January. Then I will invest. By the way investment in exchange rates is also a thing last year I got and exchange rate of 47b to the £ sent money over so sending money over ever month can be a bad thing if it drop to 37b £ like just before covid
Mike *******
Sorry. My mistake on the rocket science part then. 800,000 baht in the market should be good for everyone if they can do it that way. All the best.

The monthly income route seems way too complicated and the rules very strict, thus I'm glad they offer the 800k lump sum option. But to avoid dipping below that amount around visa renewal time, I use 900k with no worries of meeting day-to-day expenses. Just my method for ease and peace of mind.

hi Bill, so do I understand you correctly? You do not do the monthly transfer of 65' but you have well over 800' in your thai bank account at any given time? Is this correct?
Bill *********
@Bridget ***********
You are correct. With the lump sum option you do not have to transfer any specific amount on any particular schedule, just whenever you feel you need to bring the balance up. This assumes you use said account for expenses such as rent, which I do. So it does need to be replenished occasionally. Hope this makes sense.

@Bill ********
get it. Thankx a bunch! I much prefer this option over paying transfer fees both sides every month!

Herd (sic) that they are stopping this.

800 before you could teach it for 3 month, now i d ont now....

If your just under the 65k baht per months, however have the 800k baht ready for a Thai Bank account and excess funds in an off shore account, will the combination prevail for an OA application 🤔..Thanks in advance 🙏
Graham ******
@John ******
For a Non-OA application the 800k equivalent funds do not need to be in a Thai bank account

Why don’t you simply open an fcd account and send your monthly there when you don’t want to convert?

Just make sure it’s more than 65k when converted, even when you don’t want to convert.

Bangkok Bank allows you to open a usd or eur account without a y problem and you can access the money every day during bank hours.

You can do anything you want with the money that is deposited meaning you can spend it as soon as it arrives

100 BHT to the bank for their service. They also know exactly what immigration wants to see.

ummm…not every bank branch knows what is specifically required by immigration; one that I went to had no idea and gave me the wrong documentation

I live in Phuket....maybe the high number of Farangs here makes the difference/

Agree with John L above. The rules are very simple.

per month minimum. My company pension is paid directly to SCB. I go to bank and get them to prepare a copy of all pages of my account showing the monthly deposit.(Which actually says "pension"). I get bank to produce a cover letter addressed to immigration stating that I received 12 monthly pension payments in the last 12 months. Get this letter and copy of account on day I go to immigration. Dated on the same day. This has worked every year for the past 12 years plus.

Need statement for every month shows 65k transfer
เดแคลน ***********
It's minimum transfer of 65k p/m for 12 months without missing a single transfer every single month. (I'm not sure if it can be broken up into separate transfers or it needs to be 1 single transfer though).
Brandon ************
@เดแคลน **********
Varies by immigration office. Some want a single transfer and some don't care as long as it adds up.

The process and rules are very clear.

At the time you apply for your extension, you must be able to show 12 CONTINUOUS months of at least 65,000 per month of international transfers into your bank account. If you miss it by even one day in a month, for example you made the transfer on the 30th but it didn't clear until the 1st of the next month, your extension would be denied because you failed to meet the requirements. The only thing that varies with immigration offices can be that some will require the 65,000 to be in a single transfer each month, and not a combination of transfers throughout the month. Some immigration offices have also started asking for proof of the income, such as proof of the pension payments or something along those lines.

You ALSO must have met the requirements for the previous year's extension. Those requirements were that you keep your bank account at 800,000 baht for 3 months after you received the extension, and then never let your bank account drop below 400,000 the rest of the year. They will check your 12 months of bank statements to make sure those rules were met as well. If you failed to meet those requirements, your extension will also be denied.

If you meet all the requirements and get your extension, you can then withdraw the 400,000 and use it as you wish, and you'll need to continue the monthly transfers of at least 65,000 each month.

is it the same if you come on marriage visa ? And if so does the 65,000 apply from the minute you get here or just when you apply for extension.

@Brandon ***********
does that

have to be purely pension or they don't care as long as the amount is met ?
Brandon ************
@Shane *********
depends on the immigration office. Most don't care. But some have started asking for proof that it's retirement income. You would need to check with your office to be sure.

thanks. My military pension is about 55,000 thb

I’ve never heard of anyone doing this, but I know it is an option. I don’t understand how it works.

“Option 3: Combination:

You can combine a bank deposit with an annual income to meet the 800,000 Baht requirement. “
Brandon ************
@Wayne *******
People don't do it because some immigration offices don't accept it, and it makes the process far more complicated than it needs to be. But if the monthly transfer is 65,000 and the bank balance required is 800,000, then if you have 400,000 the monthly transfer would need to be 32.5K. But each immigration office treats it differently, so you would need to check with your immigration office before you even tried it.

what if I didn't miss a day but my deposit came in early for example the month of June have 2 deposits one on the 2nd(65k) and one on the 30th(65k) suppose to turn up 1st July....no deposit in July but everything back to normal in August and after will this be OK for the immigration?
Phil *******
@Jesper ******
why would you schedule the transfer for very end or very beginning of a month and run the risk. Just do it 15th of every month.
Jesper *******
@Phil ******
thanks for the advice
Kool *******
@Jesper ******
with no deposit in July, even though there were two in June, the 12 month count will restart in August, then next month you made the bt65,000+ deposit, and count 12 months from then. You'll need the lump sum for your next extension.
Brandon ************
@Jesper ******
no. Every month. If there's no transfer in July you do not have one every month. Doesn't matter if every other transfer is 1 million baht. The only thing that matters is at least 65,000 baht every single month.
