Question 1: I have currently have an non-O visa (retirement), Australian passport. My wife also with an Australian passport who piggy-backed my non-OA visa when we arrived in Thailand 6 years ago.

My wife needed to leave Thailand 2.5 years ago and had now has returned to Thailand with a 45 day visa exempt stamp.

What are our best options to have my wife piggy-back my current visa as before? I assume we both need to leave Thailand and re enter together. Thinking of Veitnam if this is the case? She is under the age of 50 years.

What do we need for this to happen?

Question 2: Can my wife still piggy-back my visa if she's is 50 years or older?

Thank you in anticipation.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The wife cannot piggy-back on the husband's Non-O visa while in Thailand. She needs to apply for a 90-day Non-O visa from a Thai consulate abroad, such as in Australia. Exiting and re-entering Thailand together will not affect her visa situation. Age 50 does not impact her ability to piggy-back under the 'trailing spouse' clause.

OK, so if she goes to Australia on her own and applies for a 90 day single entry from there and then returns to Thailand this would be acceptable. Just confirming that I do not need to go to Australia as well?

you do not need to go but definitely email or call the Sydney thai consulate and see if you can get her a 90 day Non-O visa based on trailing spouse with you on a year retirement extension.

, I believe you don't have to as long as she has documents prepared (some with your signature). the embassy and consulate in Australia now have online applications (not eVisa), even applicant doesn't have to go in person.

Sadly there is no way for your wife to get "piggy backed" onto your current extension without her getting a 90 day Non-O visa from a thai consulate in another country ๐Ÿ˜•

It can't be done inside the country and exiting/re-entering together isn't going to do a thing for her other than put her on a new free entry stamp.,

She should have got the 90 day single entry Non-O in Australia before she came back to thailand.

She's got to get a 90 day Non-O visa from a thai consulate and there a ZERO verifiable reports of anyone getting a 90 day single entry Non-O visa based on being married to a foreigner on a retirement extension from ANY thai consulate in S/E Asia since the borders re-opened after the covid lock downs.. ๐Ÿ˜•

2 - Doesn't matter how old she is, there's no rule that says once someone turns 50 they can't piggy back on their spouses visa under the "trailing spouse"clause.
