Answer summary
The conversation revolves around the best options for a friend's upcoming trip to Thailand, especially concerning the tourist visa application and expedited entry services. Several comments discuss the reliability and cost of safe passage services, varying from 2000 to 3500 THB, with mixed opinions on the necessity and effectiveness of these services. A consensus suggests that while tourist visas might take time, using an express service can expedite entry but does not guarantee preferential treatment at immigration. Additionally, there are warnings regarding the scrutiny of frequent short-term entries, emphasizing the importance of proper visa choices based on previous stays.

It’s not a safe passage way for what you pay but just a shortcut for the waiting lines.
The immigration officer will check and treat him as anybody else.
It doesn't matter that much how many times he has entered in the last year or more, what matters is how long he stayed each entry and whether he returned "home" before entries.
He can use an express company to expedite the immigration process. But it’s not 2,000 baht try more like 8,000-10,000 baht. Expect to pay closer to $300 to get expedited immigration services
Your mate should stop reading crap on social media, unless he is trying to live here long term on border bounces and has pages of entry stamp, he will be fine.
Paul Franklin That’s not true. I came twice last year and stayed 60 days each time. Had 4 month break between visits. Arrived this March and was told that next time I will need a long term visa. Said tourist visa won’t be suitable.
Ralph Tyson they are clamping down on people doi g 60 days the 30 extension, multiple times, immigration can see who is doing what, stop spreading BS and misinformation
Justin Roocroft Short visits (2-3 weeks) aren’t a problem. It’s when you stay 60 or 90 days. They are clamping down on it. I really don’t know what I will do next time.
Trevor Rickard It doesn't reset on the 1st Jan, it's all about previous stays in Thailand. Having said that the OP's friend should be fine. The problems come when trying to stay long term in Thailand without the correct visa
GreyElephant🐘 If you do 60+30 then border bounce for a new 60 plus an extension then that is the behaviour that the increased scrutiny is in place to stop. 3, 4, 5 etc visa exempt entries are ok for true tourists.
No start date like a tax year, if you border run you'll get question. Not a 60 day visa, 60 days visa exempt. If you had a tourist visa it would not be an issue
Trevor Rickard they stopped my partner when we returned from Vietnam, entries too many times based on last year history, it certainly is not a calendar year. But only in Asia 5.5 months per year, no longer allowed on exempt stamps
Trevor Rickard You entry and exit are stored on the system. They know when you arrive and leave. You get pulled if your looking to stay long term without the correct visa no hard dates or resets just if your travel raises flags
Michael EdwardsAs far as I know, the price depends on a passport and not on a type of visa. But it is always better to message them and ask for details.
Richard Broderick Risking it is low IQ. Safe passage is dirt cheap and guaranteed entry on visa exempt. Getting a tourist visa is a waste of time (give you the same 60 days), and doesn't increase your odds of getting in.
