Anyone got approved while already in Thailand like a tourist? I'm taking a flight while my visa is still processing. I know the theory, but does anyone have the experience? Thank you
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the experiences of individuals applying for a Thai visa while already present in Thailand as tourists. Several users share mixed outcomes, with some getting their visas cancelled and facing bans, while others report approvals, highlighting that policies vary by embassy and cannot always be easily navigated. Key points include the confusion around whether applications can be processed while applicants are inside Thailand and the risks involved, stressing the importance of adhering to regulations and the possibility of required proof upon application.

ArticulateLychee9084 the embassies should respect their own rules when they say on their website it’s gonna take 14 days processing, so ppl submit and book flights and then it takes them way longer (6 weeks in my case)! So if you don’t have answers to the asked questions just be quiet Kevin 😃

There no way they don’t change this visa. Or continue denying applications

Or denying entry if on soft powers

Such stories are also used by Thai Immigration as an argument for stricter visa regulations. Farangs (foreigners) haven't grasped that it's no longer so easy to obtain a visa based on lies and fraud.

I don’t exactly know it’s just a guess, usually you get an email saying it’s rejected, but mine just changed to cancelled on the website and somebody here in the group said that happens in these cases, otherwise it would have been rejected 🤷‍♀️

Anonymer Teilnehmer 555 they don’t blacklist, that one person that was blacklisted was approved while in Thailand and thought he was set and stayed in the country, in the end he had a massive overstay and got blacklisted for that

Yes even 90 days of overstay results in a 20,000 Thai baht fine AND One year ban on entering Thailand.

I would say it is a bit of a grey area in the system.

It is not illegal to be in Thailand while the process is going on if you are here legally like on exemption, what is important for Thailand is that by the time you apply for the visa you are out of the country and now that can be taken seriously if you can not prove you were outside while you applied. You have to at least be outside Thailand once you hit submit.

Now you might get rejected if they find out you went back to Thailand in between the process, but that depends a lot on the Embassy too.

This rule that you have to stay in the application country for full processing is made by Embassies not Thailand.

For example, UK has a requirement that the applicant has to stay in the country for full processing and they even let you write a letter for it.

Indonesia on the other hand has approved visas knowing the applicant is not in the country anymore as they ask for all passport images and people have had Indonesian visas overdue while they got approved and one person even had a stamp he went back to Thailand and they still approved the visa.

How you could get a ban to Thailand tho, is thinking your DTV activates while you are inside Thailand while it gets approved. But if you get approved while being om exemption, you have to leave and come back with the DTV to activate it.

But to he honest, its always all fun and games until an immigration agent starts questioning you, they have the right to always deny you.

So best and safest is to stay in the application country until you get approved cause in case you get rejected, at least you will have another 60 day exemption to use and you did not lose any days in Thailand from waiting on the visa answer.

Different outcomes have been reported in the past. But its likely that your visa application gets denied or that the embassy will request you to come in for an interview. last thing happened to people that i personally know.

some embassies now even require you to upload all passport pages so they will see your current status… but they could also check the system. or do you think your entry into thailand is not in the system? 😅😅

Anonymous participant 555 you mistake what I said, I didn’t say they can’t check when it was issued and check your stamps lmao. Reading comprehension is hard for you

I said the consulate can’t know if you left the country it’s in, and immigration has no idea if you applied for the dtv.
Anon0*****
Anon0*****
Anonymous participant 555 why would I wish I never commented now? When did I say I didn’t think they could check? You don’t make sense lmao

What I said was they don’t check if you applied while in country, IO do not do that. You post a pic of a forum acting as if it’s a fact. Can they, obviously they could. but they don’t. Myself and many others are proof of that, or else you would hear actual stories of it not random generic posts by a legal firm saying it, that could easily have ulterior motives😂

I also said that the consulates you apply to have no idea if you left the country, and also immigration won’t know if you’ve applied. Again your reading comprehension is awful

Yes, there are plenty of people here who tried to do what’s not allowed and ended up being denied right away or had to provide proof of location or attend an interview and got caught later. Not a clever move! Your entries are recorded, your DTV issuance date is known.
