TLDR : Answer Summary
For a 6-month stay in Thailand, travelers often consider either an education (ED) visa or a tourist visa with extensions. The tourist visa, which allows for a 60-day stay extendable by another 30 days, is typically the easiest option for short stays. Many recommend maximizing this with multiple entries, although this depends on the discretion of immigration offices. Some suggest getting a multi-entry tourist visa. The costs for these options vary, with a tourist visa generally costing around 7,000 to 8,000 baht, including extensions.

Well, if you maximise a 60-days visa-exempt stay by the 30 days extension, you might be able to re-enter for a second exempt entry. However the 30-days extension on these second 60-days could be refused - it is always up to the discretion of the Immigration office. It's never guaranteed. Many reports indicate that Immigration offices are getting tougher on consecutive visa-exempt stays . . . . .and you need to ask your airline if they want a proof of onward travel out of Thailand within the first 60 days - as some airlines require this

If your passport allows, 60 day visa exempt plus a 30 day extension. Leave, come back and do it again.

I can do the extension in any visa office in Thailand right? Doesn’t have to be at my entry point?

you need to do it at the immigration office in your area. You’ll need your TM30 to do an extension.
