I am slightly confused. I want to change my extension reason from “married to a Thai” to “retirement”. This is my second extension and my question is ‘ does the ฿ 800,000 have to be in my account for two months or three months before I apply?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) seeks clarification on the financial requirements for changing their visa extension reason from 'married to a Thai' to 'retirement'. They are specifically asking whether the ฿800,000 must be maintained in their bank account for two months or three months prior to applying for the extension. Responses indicate that different immigration offices may have varying requirements; some require the funds to be in the account for three months before application, while others may adhere to a two-month rule. Additionally, there are stipulations regarding maintaining the balance after the extension is granted.

Check with your office. Mine required banked money 3 months prior to application and it is of no use trying to argue with what they say even if they are wrong.

2 months before 3 months after and can't drop below 400k after the 5 month total. Needs to be back at 800k 2 months before you next apply for the extension

Contact your local Immigration Office as some will be considering this as a 'change' of reason of extension and will require the funds to be in your account for 3 (three) months.

In any case, I'd say better safe than sorry.

Good luck.

@Andre ******
, it's two months, not three months, as Tod already mentioned above.

Also,has to be proven to come from abroad,where as marraige 400k can be sourced internally...correct me if wrong🤔

, no requirement of international transfers of funds for an extension application. That is only for the initial in-country Non-O visa application.

Using the 800K baht banked money method you need to have the funds in your account a minimum of 2 months before you APPLY for the next extension, then it needs to stay in the account for 3 months after the extension is granted and after that the balance can't go below 400K baht the rest of the year
