This is what happens when you wait to the last minute to take care of your business. With or without an agency. Everyone should know when their passport needs renewal and when their visa or extension expires. There is absolutely no valid excuse for overstaying. We're guests in The Kingdom and are expected to know and follow the rules if we want to stay here.

Immigration uses biometrics, the days of sneaking around and changing nationality and identity are pretty much over.

I overstayed at least 1.5 years & had my blacklist removed via agent 2 years ago.

Do note that there is a crackdown on Visa exemptions, ED Visa, VIP Pass etc.

Situation may have changed at the moment. Itโ€™s worth asking other agents if this option still available. Be prepared to spend money ๐Ÿ’ธ

Iโ€™m not an agent & would like to stay anonymous.

was he caught on overstay or did he go to leave Thailand and was issued the ban at the airport?

was arrested, the ban was issued at airport. He submitted his passport for renewal but the agency kept telling him to wait due to the 300,000 baht deposit in bank account, which led to delay for 6 months, before there was a check and the immigrant arrested him.

that will make it much more difficult to appeal. He may just need to sit it out then apply for permission to enter again at the end of his 5 year ban.

Oh, well. Good luck on that. ๐Ÿคฃ

It may help to share a little more about the type of ban involved, as the legal options can vary significantly depending on the circumstances.

For example:

1. Is this an immigration ban due to overstay or deportation?

2. Has a formal order already been issued, or is the matter still under review?

3. Is the person currently outside Thailand or still in the country?

4. Does the person have a Thai spouse or children?

If there is already an immigration ban in place and your friend has close family ties in Thailand, I would recommend consulting an immigration lawyer who has experience with appeals and immigration enforcement matters, rather than someone who only handles visa applications.

The more details you can share about the reason for the ban, the easier it will be for people to recommend a lawyer with the right experience.

Immigration doesn't make mistakes on bans. If they did someone would lose "face", and that isn't allowed to happen. There is no appealing.

Why was he blacklisted?

Was he arrested or did he hand himself in?

If overstay how long was it?

It will be expensive to hire a lawyer, so probably best to consider the likelihood of success first.

and caught on overstay or handed himself over at the airport on the way out?

Itโ€™s almost impossible to get a blacklisting reversed,

This only happens in case there was made a mistake or the person was cleared in a new court case.
