Hello everyone, I am in Australia and looking at the Non O visa. My query is on the compulsory Thai health insurance. I can see the Canberra Embassy directs you to TGI I think. From other people’s experience, how much can we expect to be paying out for that aspect of the visa application? We will be getting our own health insurance for repatriation etc. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion primarily revolves around the Non-O visa in Thailand, specifically regarding health insurance requirements. Several users clarify that the Non-O visa does not have a mandatory health insurance requirement, while the Non-OA visa does. Users suggest verifying with the local Thai consulate for accurate information and emphasize that health insurance, though not required for the Non-O visa, is advisable. Some recommend specific insurance options and provide insights into the application process for these visas.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES

For the health insurance, be sure the provider is on the immigration list of approved providers and your outline meets the minimum requirements . I work with several companies that have policies specifically designed for OA visa . Please feel free to reach out to

In other words you are too dumb to do your own research and a minimal bit of paperwork. It’s so easy for anyone to do if they speak to their Immigration office and ask what they require.

KindNarwhal5068 the advice has already been given, you are looking at the Non-OA. Which requires insurance from a limited group if Thai insurers, criminal background check. The Non-O does NOT require these.

Wouldn’t retire there without health insurance. If something happens the cost of the insurance is minimal.

Kevin Ganzevoort they already have a plan for an appropiate insurance. With the Non-O/A Visa, they are forced to make a contract with a tgia-listed Thai private insurer. It costs a fortune for the yearly premium, and these insurances are known for refusal to pay, their excuse being alleged pre-existing conditions

you are looking at the Non-Imm-O/A Longstay Visa, for which there is a mandatory health insurance requirement. You were looking at the wording "tgia-listed insurance companies" which are Thai private insurance companies. . . . . . .you should be looking at the 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa which is the correct one in the listing, which does NOT have a health insurance requirement . . . the listing leading to the Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa might be a little confusing, it is now worded as such

Apply for the Non-O Single entry 90 day Visa from Oz when you are ready to leave to come over

Insurance not needed for the Non-O

Then you can go to the nearest immigration and get a list of the requirements to fulfill the 12 month extension

You're not looking at the non-O, you're looking at the non-OA.

The non-O does not require insurance.

The non-OA requires insurance approved by the embassy from a Thai company.

Non-o has NO insurance requirement. You must be looking at non-oa which requires insurance, a medical certificate and criminal background check. Non-o required none of these.
