Three extension of stay questions: I enter Thailand with a non O visiting Thai family with the intention of applying for the 12 month extension of stay. I am aware that immigration offices accept applications either 30 or 45 days before the non O expires.
1. If I need to leave Thailand and return (with a re-entry permit), obviously before my non O expires, what is the latest date that I can apply for EOS?
2. If the under consideration period goes beyond the expiry date of my visa, is there a danger of going on overstay?
3. Could leaving Thailand and returning as in question 1 above detrimentally affect the approval of EOS?
TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses three key questions about applying for a 12-month extension of stay (EOS) on a Non-O visa while needing to leave Thailand temporarily. The user seeks clarification on the last possible date to apply for EOS when leaving the country, concerns over potential overstay if the application processing exceeds the visa expiry, and whether the act of leaving and returning would negatively affect the EOS approval. Responses indicate that the latest application date is the day of the 90-day entry stamp's expiration, that there is no risk of overstay if a valid application is submitted, and that leaving Thailand for a re-entry should not hinder EOS approval.

I would check with the immigration office you plan on using as far as the last day you can apply. I went about 2 weeks prior to my current expiration and they were not too happy about it. They said next time come 4 weeks before. Even with 2 weeks I barely got the application finished since they wanted a bunch of extra documents from my landlord that he was not willing to give.
Nope, if they take your money (the 1900baht) and give you a receipt with a return date you'll get approved. They won't even let you apply if you're not gonna get the extension
while you can apply for an extension right up until the day your 90 day stamp runs out I sure wouldn't cut it that close, because if you don't get all the documents etc correct and you're on the last day you can run yourself out of time. ๐ฎ Best of luck with it ...
