Hi everyone and a Happy New Year to you all.

My querie for anyone to comment on is this. I was just looking at the requirements for a Thai OA retirement visa in from Australia.

Looking at it it’s states that a financial requirement is $54545 AUD, which equates to in excess of 1,200,000 bht and $4545 AUD per month equating to in excess of 102,000 bht per month. Obviously this doesn’t seem right when the generally quoted 800,000 bht and 65,000 bht per month are the figures to work on.

Can anyone throw any light on this information or anyone recently obtained an OA visa in Australia to confirm this information. TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the financial requirements for a Thai OA retirement visa from Australia, noting discrepancies in the figures he found. He mentioned a figure of $54,545 AUD exceeding 1,200,000 THB and $4,545 AUD monthly exceeding 102,000 THB, which contradicts the commonly cited requirement of 800,000 THB and 65,000 THB monthly. Several community members responded, clarifying the actual requirements and noting that embassies may have differing procedures.

The Sydney Consulate and Canberra Embassy do things differently. For the OA Canberra sticks to the
******
criteria. Remember that embassies/consulates are notorious for doing it "My Way"

If you meet the financial requirements then you can leave your money in Australia and earn intetest .

To extend the O-A in Thailand you would need to meet the requirments of either 800,000 in a Thai bank account in your name or 65,000 bht transfered every month for 12 months.

Sorry Lee, I understand that. But the point I’m trying to make is that $
*****
is not 800,000 bht. Where if you apply for an O visa in Thailand it is in fact 800,000 bht required.😊

if you have $54,545 in your Australian bank account or earn $4545 per month you are eligible.

Where it says "AND" should read "OR".

Sorry everyone, my previous post is in fact incorrect. It should read in excess of 1,200,000 bht. Not 102,000,000 bht. Oops.😊
