Has anyone travelled from Thailand to Ireland with a cat (or small dog) and can share their experience?
Heโs all sorted with the vet and itโs just the journey we need help with. Ideally, Iโd like him to fly with us in the cabin, but itโs a bit of a minefield. Swiss Air allow pets in the cabin, but not with Ireland as the final destination.
Any help is much appreciated ๐ธ

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on traveling to Ireland from Thailand with a cat, aiming for the pet to accompany them in the cabin. Several comments provide insights including airline regulations, the need for pet passports, alternative travel strategies via the EU, and experiences from others who traveled with pets.
I travelled London - Phuket with a cat and dog. They had to go in the hold unfortunately, it depends on size tho. We flew from London to Phuket because it was direct, then you could always get the stena to Dublin or Belfast ๐
A little different but I travelled with my cat to the UK with him in the cabin (I bought him the seat next to me on Etihad). We actually had to fly to Amsterdam and then take the ferry to Hull, as you can't fly cats into the UK via cabin only cargo. Might be the same in Ireland. So best option is to fly to the EU then see if you could take a ferry maybe.
Thank you ๐ This will be a great option if all else fails. Belfast, UK, is our final destination but Ireland is our port of entry and Northern Ireland is still treated as part of the EU in regards to pets.

Aer lingus and Ryan Air only allow service animals in the cabin. This is irish government regulation. I assume you already know rabies requirements for UK and Ireland and how the common land border has impacted animsl movement regulations.
