What advice do you have for moving to Thailand with senior dogs and navigating the challenges involved?

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for welcoming me

I’m planning to move next spring with my two rascals who are both senior dogs. Jude here is in training for Service

I’m gonna be 70 and can’t wait to quit my American job and life! We love nature and Thai cuisine and culture and cannabis and LBGTQetc culture! We are open minded but hyper aware of scammers and cons.

Hope to connect here and in 9 months…

THERE!!! 🩷👍👅👓🐶🐶🌝🌈🌴🐘💨🌧️🥭🌶️🧄🥥🍤🥢⛱️

Any advice is welcome!

it’s a lot to put senior dogs through, long flight very stressful for them, and you will have to keep them in a secure property! fenced ,good luck though live your dreams 🙏❤️🇹🇭

You have received many good responses. As said, remember that “maybe” applies here more than you may be used to. Provide yourself with plenty of options, backup plans and cushion for the unexpected. Your ability to stay calm and change your expectations will be tested.

Be aware also that most vetranarians in Thailand do not believe in assisted dying of pet dogs should the need sadly arise .This is for religious reasons. I hope that such a decision would never need to be made however it is wise to be aware. The dog in your photo looks in great shape. I say what I did because you said your dogs were seniors.

also, if the dog sick, cure is an “inject.” I swear it’s the same for any malady. Usually works well though lol!

yes, isn't this strange, and absolutely heartbreaking when you know your dogs needs to cross over.

I'm so lucky our vet has compassion, and will assist.

Relo4paws for pet import. Be aware despite regulations service dogs not really recognised. 5 years ago there was only a total of 1 guide dog for the blind in the whole of Thailand not sure now but doubtful its increased much.

P.S they going to make cannabis illegal again maybe 555

Have you ever stayed more than a couple of weeks in Thailand ?

If not you should do a testrun, before burning all bridges.

Stay at least 3 month with the 60 day visa excempt + 30 days extension, or go with the multi entry tourist visa for up to 9 month to explore destinations and live at the same budget as if you have moved.

Everyday life may be quite different from holiday life.
