TLDR : Answer Summary
Members of the community shared their experiences and companies used for flying dogs to Thailand, highlighting a range of costs from £1500 to over £8000. Recommendations included Relo4Paws and Tailwings for pet travel. Discussions addressed the importance of planning, potential stress for pets during travel, and the need for proper documentation and import permits. Some users expressed concerns about booking flights where pets could accompany them in the cabin or as excess baggage.

Yes, my labradoodle and I moved here from Kauai, Hawaii. The dog relocation services are ridiculously expensive from Hawaii, $6,000 and up! My dog flew on the same plane as I did, in cargo. It was harder leaving Kauai than coming into Thailand (rabies shots 6 months apart, notarized docs had to be fed ex’d by my vet, export permit, proper kennel, needed to travel when it’s under 85 degrees at all destinations so we landed BKK at 1 am, etc.) Cost about $2,600 from start to finish. PM me if u need more info.

Brought our lab (26kg) from uk - weight is important as used excess baggage with Thai airways in 2019 - did it all ourselves - import permit dragged from Thailand and relo4paws kindly gave animal import a nudge for us - straight forward as long as you plan and book space early on plane as restricted number of pet spaces allocated on each flight - she was there waiting for us after going through passport control 🙏

how did you book it directly? Looking to take my 10kg cockapoo later in year. I have been emailing the cargo customer service department trying to find out. As don’t want to book our flight tickets until we know we can be on same flight :-)

I had the same challenge - Thai airways would not allow us to book the dog space until we had our seats booked.

We booked in May and then reserved the space as it is added to your main booking as excess baggage.

Advantage of using TA was that it was direct so no disturbing her with a Middle East transfer

I brought my Weiner dog from Korea in 2011. Paid to have the import papers prepared at a kennel in Seoul, and put a picture of the dog on the crate with her name so the handlers may see her as a living thing rather than just cargo. We flew Asiana and I forget where we picked her up at the airport when we arrived but it wasn't a problem. My Thai wife did all the talking with the customs folks, paid around a thousand baht and that was that. More stress on us than the dog. I really think having her picture and a Hi, my name is Coco on the crate helped with her handling. She got a lot of attention. Hope this helps.

I would never do cargo. Since you wont be on the same plane as your dog. Would make me very anxious. It is cheaper though.

very stressful!

This company only use Thai airways, but we tend to only use Thai airways when we fly over so it’s a bit more comforting for us

Good luck to you as well 😊

My partner and I are currently looking into this for our 2 dogs, we have a range of prices from a few different companies ranging from £1500 - £8000

We have been told by one company that anything over £2500 is too expensive and the company are basically trying to get whatever they can from you

So we are looking around the £2000 range at the very most

If there is any possibility of returning to your home country be very aware of the costs and requirements to do so .
