Can somebody please clarify the differences between the ED visa made inside the country from TR conversion, and an ED visa made outside. From what I know, the one made inside the country is much more expensive because of the "visa conversion" fee, whereas the one made outside is an ED from the start, so it doesn't need to be converted, and costs 2000 baht. Some people were saying that even if the ED visa obtained outside the country is much cheaper, there is a big fee that needs to be paid upon the first 3 month extension. Thanks!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the differences between obtaining an Education (ED) visa inside Thailand through conversion from a Tourist (TR) visa and applying for an ED visa from outside Thailand. It is noted that while the ED visa obtained inside Thailand might seem more expensive due to perceived conversion fees, in reality, all visas and extensions have standard fees set by immigration. Many suggest that the additional costs some face may come from fees charged by schools for handling paperwork rather than immigration itself. Furthermore, participants emphasize that obtaining the ED visa outside may avoid these extra costs, and advise handling visa matters independently to save money.
