Has anyone obtained their Ed Visa while in the USA recently? Is the 90-day visa I'll get at a consulate in the US any different from one I'd get in the SE Asian region? In other words will it be just as easy to extend/ renew at Thai Immigration every 90 days to get the full year's use out of it? I already have a legit school lined up who can do the paperwork for me before I go.
The idea is that I would rather get my visa in the US while traveling later this month vs waiting to come back, then having to travel again outside of Thailand but regionally, losing time and money in a nearby country. In other words, USA trip would be 2 birds with one stone: visit + visa). Personal experience and advice welcome.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the process of obtaining an Ed Visa for Thailand while in the USA and whether the 90-day visa granted at a US consulate differs from one acquired in Southeast Asia, particularly concerning ease of extension for a year of study.
