TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus in the responses indicates that it is generally not possible to change a tourist TR visa to a non-immigrant ED visa within Thailand without leaving the country. This could vary based on the school and its accreditation for obtaining an ED visa. Although some immigration offices may allow conversions under specific circumstances, individuals are advised to consult with their chosen school and local immigration office for accurate information.

There are some cases it's possible to 'convert' to an ED visa (and then extension being learning) in Thailand if it's universities or maybe some international schools (elementary school to high school). But not all of those schools can support in-country visa. Best is talking with your school and your local immigration office.

Can you expand on this:

"study at international school in Thailand)"

is this at the university level, where you want a bachelors or masters degree?

Must one leave the country (Thailand) to get the ED Visa?
Ellie *******
It depends on your school. You can do in-side country with some universities, etc. Not heard it's possible if you learn at private language schools.

Check with your school and your local immigration office if it's possible.

Thank you very much. I will inform my friend to check with schools. But all schools are closed.

Campuses are closed but schools are still open and operating on virtual classes, would this change the answer?
Robert *******
if this virtual school can send you all the documents needed I would say go to Immigration and apply for it

No ED visas I think you'll find as all schools are closed

You mention International School....there is NO schools open in Thailand at this time.

Talk to your selected school...if they are able to obtain Ed Visas in Thailand. But no schools open.
Robert *******
Schools are closed, simply means no more education visa available to sit in a class room

Are you married to a Thai? Or have a Thai child?
James ********
No it is not possible.

Its time to plan to return to your home country...

Or obtain the correct visa for living in Thailand.
