Strange one Today I went to immigration in Korat for a Visa Extension based on being Married (60 Day) I had all paper work in order but was told to get a Covid Extension eventhough I explained I was visiting my wife and wasn't asking for a covid extension was told 60 Day same same.

Not complain just thought I would share this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience at the immigration office in Korat where they went to apply for a 60-day visa extension based on being married. Despite having their paperwork in order, they were advised to apply for a COVID extension instead. A comment highlighted that the advice was beneficial, as one can only get one 60-day extension for visiting family per entry, whereas the COVID extension allows for unlimited extensions.

They did you a VERY solid favor. A person can only get ONE 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family per entry. A person can get unlimited 60 day extension of stays based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

Thank you for the update πŸ˜‰

if he's leaving in 60 days time there was no favour. And making a false declaration on an affidavit isn't great.

He's not making a false declaration. He needs to show one of the following:

1. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR;

2. A print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters OR;

3. A print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters OR;

4. Cancelled airline tickets.

if he's from the UK, he meets the qualifications based on point 2 (the last time I checked)

until they stop issuing Covid extension which is supposed to happen at the end of the month. But he can still get family extension so a win for him.
