I have flights booked for a 35 day trip to Phuket departing on the 13th. of Nov...I assume I need to scan copious documents and send to Thai embassy for a visa then apply for a COE or the Thai Pass...so far it looks a nightmare and I really can't believe this is the way forward...am I on the wrong track...?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is preparing for a 35-day trip to Phuket in November and inquires about the visa requirements, expressing concerns about necessary documentation for a visa application and the COE or Thai Pass. The comments suggest that obtaining a visa may not be necessary, as the user can enter Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption and then apply for a 30-day extension upon arrival. Additionally, there's mention of the upcoming Thai Pass system, which may simplify entry requirements but could present initial challenges during its launch.

The Thai Pass system is scheduled to go live early next week. I wouldn’t worry about the COE requirements and let’s see what needs to be uploaded to the new site. I suspect there may be the usual challenges during the first few days of launch of the new site. It also seems that the site will want you to confirm vaccination status, place you’ll be staying whilst the Covid test result is ready, and your travel itinerary. Good luck to you.

Don’t bother applying for a visa. Just get 30 days visa exemption at your entry port then apply for a 30 day extension 1900 baht Saves to the hassle of applying for a visa

If eligible, I believe applying for an e-visa from home is less a hassle than queuing at immigration for an extension 🤔

true. He seemed a little stressed over the amount of work needed. So I thought that may be one less thing to worry about in the near future

It doesn't require too much documents. It depends what consulate you're using of course.
