What is the new law about getting an extension at the immigration office, used to be 7 days for 1900 baht. Still the same?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The current rules for extending a stay at the immigration office in Thailand allow visitors who entered on a 30-day Visa Exempt Entry to apply for a 30-day extension for a fee of 1,900 baht. This has been consistent since August 2014, and there are no new laws regarding extensions. For those who frequently visit and may want longer stays, it is advisable to obtain a Single Entry Tourist Visa beforehand, which allows for an initial stay of 60 days and an option for one additional 30-day extension.

no new law, since August 2014 you can extend a visa waiver for 30 days, few exceptions.

If you plan again to visit Thailand for a longer period than 30 days I advice you to obtain a Single Entry Tourist Visa before departure at Thai Consulate or Embassy. With this visa you can stay 60 days inside Thailand and also have the option of 1 time Extension of Stay with maximum 30 days at 1.900 Thb.

So you came in on a 30 day Visa Exempt Entry, not a 30 day tourist visa. You can apply for an Extension of Stay for maximum 30 days at local Immigration at the costs of 1.900 Thb.

Can confirm that this is correct.

Picture, photocopies of departure card and stamp, proof of address of stay and Thai number if you have one. All very helpful to have before you go.

You can go up to a week before and the the date will start from the end of your Visa Exempt Entry date.

I've been coming to Thailand for the 11 years but I never just stay 30 days so this will be a first asking about extensions on a 30-day tourist visa

Four or five years ago I wanted to stay an extra 4 days so I went to immigration and paid 1900 Baht and got the 7 day extension.

Never heard of a law that only give 7 days Extension of Stay at Immigration. Depending on what stamp in your passport and previous Visa you can apply for 30 or 60 days or 1 year. The 7 day period is not an Extension of Stay. The stamp clearly says: Extension of stay is not approved and you have 7 days to leave the country.
