I have friends that are moving to Thailand and are wanting to get on the DTV Visa, most likely under the digital nomad category. Has anyone successfully opened a bank account? Is there an agency that is able to help them open an account? Husband and wife would both like bank accounts! Thanks for any help and sorry if this has been answered multiple times!

REALITY is at this time, Banks are 🚫 NOT opening New bank accounts for DTV Visa holders. It's classed as a mm multiple entry tourist visa. Tourist Visas are now not eligible for a Thai bank account.

As they are Americans, they should open up a Charles Schwab Bank account. Which has a checking account and ATM card.

The usual bank fee to use the ATM 🏧 is 220 Thai baht. Charles Schwab Bank will reimburse the ATM 🏧 fee's charged by banks to use their ATM.

You may want to do a search. Hundreds of posts on this subject.

Very unlikely at the moment. They made it clear this would not be possible on tourist exemption and DTV anymore. You may find a temporary solution (paying money) but risk account closure.

DTV is classed as a tourist visa, massive clampdown on those that have opened bank accounts on it . Even agents cannot help. Use your visa debit card from your home country or bring a stack of notes with you and change them

Very difficult to open a bank account right now even with an agent on a DTV. Pretty much impossible in most places. Some are even having their accounts closed.
