TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers to Thailand arriving on April 2nd are concerned about the need for a pre-departure PCR test, given possible changes in guidelines. While some commenters have reported conflicting information, it was confirmed that the PCR test requirement is officially dropped as of April 1st. However, it is advised to verify with airlines as policies can vary, especially due to transfer flights that may require testing.

To whom concerned about Royal Gazette.. it has been published already and mainly the PCR test predeparture has been dropped.

Pcr test is no longer required. I fly April 2nd and contacted my airlines. They confirmed that's no longer required from April onwards. However, always good to check with the airlines as they work with their systems and these need to be updated with that information. Can also be that you have a transfer flight and that that country even still requires negative Pcr evidence for transfers. Better be safe then sorry

You still have to have a test when you land and if it's positive hospital for 10 days 2000£ plus if somebody on the same flight is positive you have to isolate how long for I am not sure but Google it my friend came from the UK for a 2 week break ended up only having 6 days plus a bill for 2000£

There are 2 main points :

1) as long as it is not published in the royal gazette, it is still needed. Doesn't matter how many officials promise whatever.

2) once it is official, being published, the airline/airline staff need to know about it and implement the new rules.

Doesn't matter that it is official by royal decree published in the royal gazette, if the airline or the staff you deal with are a bit slow with the latest rule and still think the test is requiered, you will not get on the flight.

The first day(s) when the rules just changed could be risky. Have been enough testimonies of people not allowed to board because airline staff were ignorant about the exact rules.

So keep up to date with the latest info of your airline also.

I understand but think how much quarantine in Thailand will cost if you test positive on arrival

Check with your airline even though Thailand is talking about scrapping it, depending on who you are flying with still might want it.

we're flying with Scoot to BKK on April 1st too! If it isn't official by tomorrow morning (i.e. published in the Royal Gazette), we're doing the test just to be safe...

It might not be required but thats not for your convenience, get test before coming or you might get stung for 100,000 plus Baht per person that your insurance company will refuse to pay.

not as far as I’m aware. Thai airways put out a statement yesterday I believe saying they have to follow current guidelines until it’s published.
