TLDR : Answer Summary
The Poipet border crossing between Thailand and Cambodia has mixed experiences among travelers. Some report smooth crossings, while others highlight significant challenges, particularly when re-entering Thailand. Issues may arise for those with questionable stay histories in Thailand, and there is a suggestion to avoid Poipet altogether for border bouncing.

Avoid Poipet!

If you have a questionable stay history in Thailand, Poipet is not easy to get in. And if they don’t allow you in, it’s a long bus ride back to Siem Reap and the getting a flight…

Shouldn't have any issues leaving Thailand through Poipet. Coming back is where you can easily run into trouble.

For border bouncing, Tod Daniel has just made a recommendation in Thai Visa Advice about not doing it at any Cambodian borders.
, is probably much better, but don't know for sure. I was banned from using the Poi Pet border station trying to do a border bounce years ago. Then I tried to extend my multiple Non-O at my IM, but was denied. Then I tried two other Cambodian borders. One stamped me correctly. The other one stamped me in on a visa-exempt and denied to correct it. When leaving the area from both borders we were stopped by the army asking what we were doing? One time I had to queue up close to the border for yet another passport check.
