Hi! I'm Travelling from Thailand to Cambodia today, crossing the border on foot @ Poi Pet to get a new 30 day Visa. I'm on a UK Passport. Someone just txt me to say they are clamping down on day trippers @ Poi Pet and there's a possibility I might get detained? Anyone know if this is true? Thanks 🙏🏻☺️

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about recent rumors regarding increased scrutiny of day trippers crossing from Thailand to Cambodia at Poi Pet. Several comments mention that while there have been rumors of difficulties, others have successfully crossed without issues. It’s advised to ensure you have the necessary documentation, including proof of onward travel and that one should be aware of limits on visa exemptions when crossing by land.

The Aranyaprathet - Poi Pet border is well known for the cambodian side trying to get a service fee because you're not staying in cambodia 24 hours.

Also be advised that the thai officers have every right to ask you for the 3-proor-ofz;

proof of onward travel within 30 days

proof of a hotel booking

proof of 10K baht

I'm guessing they just want you to stay longer than 1 day.

It's a rumor that I have heard of in the past few weeks but I know of 3 people who did the run during the last 6 days with no problem at all.

youre not getting a 30day visa, youre after a 30dayexempt entry I summise. There is a maximum allowed of 2 per calendar year by land so if youve already had 2then you will need to go somewhere for a proper tourist visa. If not, then no problem

It's 2 by land as far as I know. Ive had multiple stamped by air

The 2 x per year only affects trips by land yeah? I crossed the same border last month but that was my first land crossing....however I've made 2 x other entries by air this year
