hello and thanks in advance for advice

i am in cambodia on a retirement visa and plan to retire to Thailand when my visa expires here in September. i have 3 large pieces of luggage and several small pieces too. extra luggage has been an issue at airports in the past so i am thinking of hiring two different private cars to go to pattaya from phnom penh. i have never entered Thailand except by plane, but i did leave pattaya by bus after flying in , last november, because i wanted to know how feasible bus travel is. i don’t really want to travel by bus if possible.

is there an airline that is best for carrying extra luggage?

does entering Thailand by bus instead of plane impact my chances of getting in and then getting a long term or retirement visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat currently holding a retirement visa in Cambodia is considering the best way to enter Thailand with significant luggage. They prefer private car transportation over bus travel and are inquiring about airline options for extra luggage. Additionally, they seek advice on whether entering Thailand by bus will affect their chances of obtaining a long-term or retirement visa. Responses indicate that the mode of entry does not impact visa eligibility, and it is suggested to apply for a Non-O retirement visa in Phnom Penh for easier banking requirements in Thailand.

......When the time comes I can arrange a taxi to Cham Yeam border crossing and get your luggage wheeled across for you. I can also arrange a taxi from the Thai side to wherever you want to go.

Look into getting your Non-O retirement Visa in PP as this will make getting your Thai bank account much easier which you will need for your 12 month extension when your banked 800k has seasoned for 2 months

With a US passport you will need 800k in a Thai bank account if you apply for your Non-O in Thailand and/or 800k seasoned for your first 12 month extension

How you enter Thailand will have nothing to do with your ability to get a retirement visa.
