TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on obtaining a DTV visa in Thailand as a prior military member with passive income. Several commenters suggest options, including pursuing medical treatment for chronic pain, engaging in Muay Thai, and enrolling in cooking classes, all of which may qualify for the DTV visa. Important considerations include verifying passive income sufficiency, understanding visa requirements like bank savings, and avoiding agents for a direct application. Recommendations also mention the need for proof of ongoing medical appointments if this route is taken.

You need to show 20 thousand in bank and figure out what visa you want to apply for with DTV

Just remember that if you contest option every entry will require proof of ongoing course, medical appointments etc or they can refuse.

Don't use an agent. Apply for dental work plan. Easy and no ongoing costs

I am same as you and did this

Best way to start is read the visa requirements on Thai visa website.

Most visas require savings of some sort rather than passive income

If you are going to be receiving medical treatment for any issues you have while living in Thailand you might try going that route on the DTV. That’s what I am doing for the treatment of my chronic pain and dry needling

How did you go about doing the medical one? I was told that I would have to be seen by a doctor in Bangkok and have a future treatment scheduled in order to do it what did you do for yours?

I just applied for mine but I was being treated at a hospital 2-3 times a week for 3 months before I left to apply for the DTV Visa. I sent the medical certificate that has the treatment plan on it and my future appointment slips to the immigration office at DC before leaving bangkok and they said that was sufficient

Firstly think if your passive income will sustain you. Then there are options.

Anonymous participant the basic requirement is that you have the equivalent of bt500,000 in a bank account in your name. There are no exceptions to this no matter what route you take.
