Can anyone recommend an insurance company for an AO retirement visa. Just got a quote from AXA at £500 a month.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation focuses on recommendations for health insurance companies compliant with the O-A retirement visa requirements in Thailand. One user suggests checking the Thai General Insurance Association's website for a list of approved insurers. Several comments discuss the challenges of obtaining affordable health insurance, particularly for those with chronic or pre-existing conditions. Additionally, there are mentions of the Non-O visa that does not require insurance, raising questions about the necessity of the O-A visa versus the Non-O visa.

As mentioned
Are you getting a Non-OA for a reason ?
Non-O Doesn’t require insurance purchase for Visa purposes

I got denied entry a couple of weeks ago. I followed the rules but came in 8 times this year so i think they felt i was abusing the system. I want a proper visa so it doesn't happen again. This seemed the best option.
out depends what you plan to do, are you going to apply for 12 month extension based on retirement? If so, then the Non-O would need the 800,000 tbt deposited in a thai bank account.
I think I read with Non-O you need to start with the 800k the first year whilst transferring the monthly amount, then on second year you can continue with the monthly income only. Have you checked if the non-OA permits you to do this without the 800k? If so that's good news for you.
I have axa easy care for my OX visa and it was certainly not 500 a month. What policy did you apply for ? Just apply fir the cheapest policy to get the visa its heaps cheaper than 500 per month

If you have any chronic conditions (hypertension etc) or pre existing conditions you are probably not going to get a great rate on your health insurance…chronic and pre existing conditions plus age are not a winning formula
So you can ask for super high premiums, omit conditions from the insurance (which means you pay out of pocket)..
so if you ask for a premium of let’s say ฿250k per year it drops the overall payment…
you can also opt out of IPD or OPD which drops the cost as well
Best way to offset it is if you have an insurance through a pension plan or other so once you omit any condition and IPD/OPD you are still covered…
good luck

You can only use one of the insurance companies on the list. And the extension is valid/ linked to duration of insurance. A non-O doesn't require insurance.
