Hello to everyone πŸ™πŸ˜Š

Does anyone have any experiences with a cheap Thai health insurance which fulfills the requirements for getting a OA retirement Visa ?

I just need this insurance for the Visa issue. I have another health insurance which is not accepted for this purpose.

Thank you for all your help in advance.

And please say something when you know something.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks experiences and recommendations for affordable Thai health insurance that meets the requirements for an OA retirement visa. Several comments offer suggestions for insurance providers, including AXA Easycare Visa, and mention lists of approved insurances. One comment notes the increase in COVID-related coverage requirements and highlights alternatives such as accident insurance or pursuing a non-O visa instead.

The Thai insurance companies after paying huge funds to Thai people that bought COVID medical coverage have decided to increase the COVID requirement for OA visa from 1 million to 3 million and then significantly increase premiums for the expats required to buy from Thai insurance companies. Avoid this by getting an O retirement visa.

Thank you Dennis for your very clear warning. I will consider it in my decision makings.

I can get easily a non immigrant O visa. My problem is the Thai banks at the moment. My account and thousands others were locked without any warning and any reason. Still many people are struggling with this issue.

I hear from many people who decided to get OA Visa next time. Me included.

I have savings and went with accident insurance which passed immigration. A lot less.

There was a local Thai health insurance where you pay first 2,000 THB. And it was enough, more than enough for minor or common ailments (cough, runny nose, especially if you have children, pain in ears), some 200-300 THB, including the doctor fee. He had never claimed any refund. My correspondent , many years ago had it. He was in Thai for 30 years (married to Thai woman, 2 kids). It was like 1,000 THB a month.

can you please tell me the name of that insurance?

Sorry, I can not. The guy who told me that in 2003, passed away last year but it is something Thai nationals would know (his wife was Thai, she made it). That is not a secret, someone here might know about that.

The OA has specific requirements including minimum amounts of coverage and specific insurance companies. Doubt this one would cover it

You may be right. The guy who told me that (he was the owner the first Thai related bulletin board in late 1990s) had been in Thai 10 years by then, legal work.

That kind of insurance must exist, Thais are en masse in it, may well be good for those who want some affordable insurance for real possibilities without open heart surgeries and supersonic evacuations cover and live in Thai long term.

My "extrension of stay 1 year" does not require health insurance, I may have a look into that.

the reason is I don't want to put hundreds of thousands of Baht in Thai Bank. Recently I and thousands others got blocked for no reason. We all should go hundreds of kilometers to unblock our accounts in the branch where we opened our accounts. That is enough. This time I will apply for a OA visa and I have 2 years stress free time. The only thing I will need to do is the 90 days report. I will put some money for weekly needs just to use the scan payment system sometimes. But never put big amount of money anywhere in Thailand. Enough is enough. πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

read carefully please. I was not talking about money. I was talking about the Thai Bank.

With a OA visa you only need to show that you have the required money on your home country bank and not in Thai bank.
