TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler inquired about flying from Heathrow to Phuket in April, highlighting difficulties finding direct flights. The discussion clarified that while there are no direct flights allowed via Bangkok, various airlines such as Emirates and Thai Airways offer direct routes. Some community members mentioned that transiting in other countries is permitted, but caution was advised regarding sealed flights between Bangkok and Phuket.
sorry I meant the OP doesn't have to use sealed Bangkok air flight if going Heathrow to Phuket via emirates - which is his easiest option - apologies for the confusion
You can fly any route from Heathrow to Phuket, with however many stops in between. Doesn’t matter where from, you just can’t transit via Bangkok. Unless you use the Bangkok airways sealed flights.
Sorry to be so skeptical but has anyone actually flown on a Bangkok Airways "sealed flight" from Bangkok to Phuket. That is, landed in Bangkok, then arrived as an international arrival in Phuket (not in Bangkok).
Yes, I've seen the "plan" but has anyone actually done it. I'm very skeptical because there has long been talk of such a thing and to my knowledge it's never actually happened.
it could possibly be that they are operating but only certain flights (for example from China) are linked. If such a case we’d pretty much never see a comment here.
the Middle Eastern hubs usually offer good value (Abu Dhabi, Doha, etc). Use Skyscanner to find flights, but book direct with the airline to avoid costly changing fees if things change.
