I would like to know which agencies can help with switching from a DTV (what I have now) to Non-B visa and a work permit (what I want). I know what some other people have paid so if you’re an agency that is going to give me a quote of like ฿50,000 please don’t bother commenting on this post. Let me know, Thanks!
Answer summary
The user seeks recommendations for agencies capable of helping them switch from a DTV visa to a Non-B visa along with obtaining a work permit in Thailand. They particularly request agencies that offer reasonable pricing, as they are not interested in those quoting around ฿50,000.

If you have traveled to thailand a lot and at risk of being denied entry then it's a good idea to ge the tourist visa in advance as you will know before you travel if you are going to get in, once you have the visa you get in but if they refuse to issue it then you most likely wouldn't have got in if you traveled without one. Also they are now going to reduce the visa waver back to 30 days so if you want to stay longer the 60 day tourist visa is a good idea.

There is still some discretion on the part of the immigration officer you meet on arrival. The visa does mean that someone has already checked through things and so there is a hedging aspect for arrival. I should have been ok for visa exempt but things were in flux and it felt safer to get a SETV and have less chance of being turned back and having to do a day of purchase of a ticket back to the U.S. denying visa exempt and canceling a visa are at different levels.

Christopher L Smith not some discretion, it is totally at their discretion whether to admit you

I say some discretion as there is a different level of discretion. It is still totally their discretion but for some of the grounds if denying entry they will be judging not just you before them but you before them and the embassy’s prior research and decision.

Technically there's no difference until they reduce the visa exemption back to 30 days, however not every Country qualifiers for visa exemption and therefore if they wish to stay up to 60 days they need a Tourist visa.

Steve Greir just as it was before July 2024 which most people having a fit about this seems to have forgotten

It will possibly go to 30 but nobody can guess when, just like the 60 days introduction took a while, basically do not rely on it, take care to regularly research changes and check your stamps as you enter Thailand.

Roger Mcintyre in anxiously waiting because I have already bought my tickets for 83 day stay. This was guaranteed to be a 60 plus 30.

I am all for Thailands setting laws that are in their benefit. But I do hope the grace period will extend to people who have already bought tickets 3 months in advance.

Andrew Patron I strongly doubt there will be a grace period for you. You have plenty of time to get prepared. Your only option will be to apply for the 60-days single entry Tourist Visa through the online E-Visa system, and in Thailand extend for 30 more days.

Andrew Patron I fully understand and support your view. But my advice remains the same. Although I have lived in Thailand for close to 29 years (as a base), I also have worked the past 36 in 23 countries in Africa, Asia and Pacific and add to holidays nations (I lose count). Regardless, the advice remains check and continue the practice, as a change may occur with little notice (just like the 60-days one). All I am saying is to have "Plan B", "c" and "d" in case the laws suddenly are gazetted and implemented.

The average Tourist stays less than 2 weeks in Thailand.

The Thai Govt gives you 30 days on arrival and you can extend that for an additional 30 days for l900.

The Thai Govt doesn't believe that those who enter for Tourism and want to stay longer are real Tourists.

For those who want to see their wives and kids or retire here or stay for other reasons there are other options.

Thailand believes most who stay here longer than 2 months at a time on a Tourist Visa are working or engaging in illegal activities.

I'm of the opinion they're probably correct..

Lawrie White bollacks simple as

Last 3 entries have been visa exempt each extended by 30 days

I stayed 77 days 71 days and 74

Paul Thomas it is going to get interesting for you, on the next time you enter. After having spent 222 days on touristic entries, the Immigration officer's eyebrows will go sky high. Have you done these within a one-year period?

Paul Thomas but will the Immigration Officer see it that way?

You failed to advise over what period of time you visited.

That is relevant and' its relevance will be at the discretion of the Immigration Officer.

I wouldn't rely on getting in again..

The most interesting change back to the old scheme, is happening to Indian citizens.

They have to go back to the 15-days Visa-On-Arrival for 2000 Baht.

If they want to stay for 60 days, the need to apply for a tourist visa through the Thai E-Visa online system in India - and pay the fee.

Regarding this, it will have a significant impact on tourist numbers from India

After all, in terms of sheer numbers, Indians were the primary beneficiaries of the visa-exempt 60-day stay introduced on July 15, 2024.

Depends how long you want to stay if 30 days is enough - fine

Be interesting to see if the normal 30 days extension is still the norm ?

And something like a

Multi Entry 6 month Visa

Does that change ?

Thoughts ?

Sean Jose that's got nothing to do with it. The original plan was to cut the number of countries eligible to the very limited number it was before, which was the usual ones you'd expect like any eu, us, canadian, australian etc. It was changed not so long ago to virtually every nation on earth. The plan is supposedly to revert back to something near the original. So the question is legitimate and has nothing to do with exceptionalism.

everyone I'd assume but until it's been through committee and published in the Royal Gazette its all conjecture
