Hi, I’m about to apply for the soft power Muay Thai DTV visa in 3 months, as i have finally got the funds required, and i should meet all the requirements for the visa.

But I would like some advice before i hand out 10 000 baht for the application and 69 000 baht on a 6 month Muay Thai program.

With my visa history (6 months 2 borderruns in 2024, 5 months 1 borderrun in 2025 and 6 months on language school ED visa in 2026) will there be a big chance of the embassy (Scandinavian country) denying the application?

Should I go to Laos or another country to apply? Or any agents that I should talk with?

I really appreciate useful advice😁
Answer summary
The user is planning to apply for a Muay Thai DTV visa and is seeking advice regarding the application process, particularly in light of their past visa history. They are concerned about the possibility of their application being denied due to previous border runs and the requirement to enroll in a Muay Thai program. Community responses suggest that it is better to apply from the home country due to tightening regulations, recommend enrolling in a 9-month course instead of a 6-month one to improve the chances of approval, and highlight the importance of being aware of current embassy practices related to DTV visa applications.

As long as you didn't run afoul of any of your stays that got you a black mark in the system, you should be good.

As others have said, bump up your course another 3 months to 9 months total.

Finally, I think you will be better off applying in your home country. The embassies in countries surrounding Thailand are getting a bit stricter and more unpredictable.

1) Better to apply from your country of origin. Things changed : it’s tightening worldwide since the new government got in place.

2) 6 months is not enough anymore. Buy 9 months course or more if you want to have any chance .

Nobody can tell you how big a chance there is of getting rejected, it will always be a gamble and you have to be okay with losing 10k baht if it gets rejected.

Don't buy 6 months...

Now recommended 9 months or more

Please Note that it's now recommended by many soft power activity course providers to submit at least 9 months or more of your course with your DTV Visa Application. Reason for that is to avoid getting the SETV single entry tourist visa or METV multiple entry tourist visa issued by the Thai Embassy or Consulate instead of the DTV visa applied for.

Reasoning that with the SETV ( 3 months) or METV (6 months) visa you can complete the course you're applying for vs the DTV visa.

This is FROM Muay Thai Fever...

Highly respected Muay Thai training gym we with hundreds of successful DTV students.

Muay Thai DTV Update

I’ve just had a meeting with the Sports Authority of Thailand / Board of Boxing Sport, and there are a few important updates I’d like to share regarding the DTV visa and Muay Thai courses.

They informed me that the DTV visa is here to stay, but the requirements for Muay Thai courses will become stricter.

Key points:

Six-month Muay Thai courses may soon no longer be accepted for DTV applications. In some cases, applicants may instead be issued an METV.

Gyms offering DTV courses are now being inspected to ensure they meet the correct standards for accepting foreign students.

New certificates will be issued to approved gyms, and in the future, embassies may request this certificate as part of the DTV application process.

This is a positive step for the industry and should help make the process clearer, more professional, and more reliable for genuine students.

Footnote:

I am not sure exactly how much control the Sports Authority / Board of Boxing Sport has over the final decisions made by individual embassies.

However, I personally consider this information reliable enough to act on.

Muay Thai Fever is now preparing for our gym inspection, and we have withdrawn our six-month DTV course.

We understand many customers are looking for the most affordable option, and that a nine-month course is more expensive.

However, we do not want to see people risk rejection by applying with a course that may no longer meet the expected requirements.

Your quoted costs of 69,000 Thai baht for 6 months appears to be expensive...

As comparison...

Increase your program to 9 mths to reduce the chances of being given a 6mth METV. Similar applicants with your visa history have been approved.
