Should I renew my passport before applying for a visa in Thailand, and what proof do I need to show I can manage my companies remotely?

After some advice 🙂

My passport needs to be renewed in a few months time, is it best to renew it early then apply or will the visa details be transferred?

Also I own a couple of ltd companies, what proof will I be asked for to say I can manage them remotely and still have an income.

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about whether to renew their passport before applying for a visa to Thailand, and what documentation is needed to prove their ability to manage their companies remotely while living there. Community members advised that the visa will not be transferred to the new passport, so both the old and new passports will need to be kept. They also suggested providing company registration documents and a letter allowing remote work for proof of income.

If you are applying in your home country you might be fine with a passport with only a few month validity... If you are applying elsewhere I advise you to renew it before you apply since you might have problems travelling if the passport is valid for less than 6 month.

You will have to keep your old passport together with the new passport, because visa will not be transferred to new passport.

Up to you if you want to keep this inconveniency for granted or not and apply for new passport first.

The visa will be a PDF, just print it out and keep with your passport.

They will likely want company registrations and a letter from the companies giving you permission to work remotely from Thailand (letter from you on behalf of the companies to you as an individual)
