So I’ve extended my visa once and I want to extend again so can I just go to immigration again or is it border run time?

Also if border run can I do by car or does it need to be through airport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has extended their visa once and is seeking advice on whether they can extend it again at immigration or if they need to perform a border run. There is also a concern about the cost of the border run, as they were quoted 3,600 baht. Commenters indicate that the required action depends on the type of visa held, with suggestions leaning towards a border run via air for efficiency, especially if the user is in Phuket. Additionally, there are limits on how many times a border run can be executed within a calendar year.

If you’re in phuket we can help with visas.

Come in with tourist visa.

Extend once.

Go out to the nearest country via land border.

Extend again.

Go out to the nearest country via land border again.

Extend again.

Time to buzz off by air and try coming in again. Keyword: TRY.

You can only go thru a land border twice in a calendar year (read: border run), unless you are from a neighbouring country. In your case, you have 2 months left.

thanks Mark, I’ll probably look into a language visa soon or look at the company route

Sounds about right. I take it you are in phuket or near border.

I would do airline. Much faster, and pretty much no issues

Well you didn't say what visa you have so it's impossible to answer your question about what your options are.

Then you're only eligible for a single 30-day extension. After that you must leave.

You can enter via land border without a visa 2 times per calendar year (visa exempt). There is no limit to how many times you can enter by air but after a few months immigration is going to pull you out of line and ask you why you think you can stay in Thailand without a long term visa and give you a warning and/or deny entry.

understand, I’d like to get a longer term one so that process is the next step as I can work remotely.

Thanks for the help

3600 baht for a border run seems quite reasonable. Normally 3-4000 baht. If you want a (60+30 days) tourist visa, you’ll need to apply at an embassy or consulate in a nearby country.
